Golden? It nearly ruined football. No competition at all to their dominance. Mayo filling the togs consistently i. It was brutal. More competitive now and the rules apart from a couple of stupid ones seems to have improved things

Since 1972? 40 - 50. Lost one. Navan 1973. To Louth as it happens. Leinster Council sets the venues. There were lads voting to put us in CP then pretending they opposed it at their own county board! agree with this statement. Plus Dublin were also adept at employing the tactics as they saw fit too even though the pr would suggest they were this swashbuckling team- they were very good at getting men back behind the ball too and keeping ball, slowing the game down etc etc. This was often overlooked by mainstream media but it happened regularly. But good luck to them- they played the rules as it suited them and were entitled to do so but spare us this nonsense that they were all out attacking and were angelic on the field- they weren't and that is why they were so successful. bláthach (Leitrim) - Posts: 38 - 28/04/2025 14:44:22 2605044 Link 0 |
Agree 100% on your sentiment User and yes a Leinster no big deal to Dubs anymore.Like ourselves I wpuld prefer a league medal tp a Munster championship medal at mo . I genuinely think Dublin still in race for Sam though and if they can get Murchan and Bugler back then its game on.You re right though in that yesterday was good for the game overall. Your off your rocker. So its Mayos fault that Dublin won the 6 in a row. What were the other 30 counties up to? Apart from getting out of Dublins way. tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1324 - 28/04/2025 15:46:09 2605080 Link 0 |
With the new rules, no team will win Sam or even be top contenders, without a very good strong midfield. We dont have that anymore. Persisting with a player who has never shot the lights out playing for the Dubs, shows the lack of quality we have in that position. Perhaps Madden can fill that role eventually but certainly not this year. I dont rate either of our current midfielders tbh. And that is the bottom line on where this team is now at. We will be lucky to make the 1/4 finals at best this season. I thought that before yesterday, and even more so now. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4153 - 28/04/2025 15:53:57 2605084 Link 1 |
Not their fault at all, they were the only team capable of coming close at that stage.

This result really puts it up to Dessie now. He inherited a great, albeit waning, squad. He's had a couple of years to refresh the personnel and stamp his style of play on things while also sizing up the opposition. It's arguably our biggest championship upset since Westmeath in Leinster 21 years ago. We were favourites that day but arguably underdogs in subsequent losses until the golden era from 2011. Can he bounce back with a full strength 15? With a decent draw I think he can. We just need Fento to come out of retirement :) Joxer (Dublin) - Posts: 4740 - 28/04/2025 17:39:14 2605133 Link 1 |
Truth. Mayo were Dublin's toughest rivals.

But we won 5 Leinster's in a row 2005 to 2009 before Meath pulled off a "SHOCK" win in the Leinster semi 2010

i see louth 4/5 meath 11/10 in one bookie operator. only thing Louth finished 6th in div 2 barely escaping relegation, plus huge difference playing in Inniskeen, one of the tighest pitches in ireland compared to croker. Croke park will be a massive difference , meath a younger fitter team who have revenge in thier sights from 6 weeks ago, some difference in louth looking for revenge from 15 years ago. all the pressure on Louth and hype will affect them i feel, Meath in bonus territorry with a much younger team. dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 822 - 28/04/2025 22:27:39 2605172 Link 0 |
Kerry lost by one score and after a replay in AI final against Dublin also in semi final Dublin needed two added time points to get past Kerry.
