It is best appointment we could have got at this late stage. He didnt have a great run with our minors though and lavery was able to win something with same bunch but the positives are that James is a Down man to the core and is not in it for the money. He will do everything in his power to ensure that they are competitive. If this is correct, and it's still an if, this is an excellent appointment and better late than never. Wee James has 2 Senior AII Irelands himself and was the most recent manager to get Down to an All Ireland final. He is a Down man through and through with a first class pedigree. He knows what is needed and wanted. He must be given time and resources with the full backing of the entire County. Things will not turn around over night but with a fair wind the next few years might be more satisfactory than hitherto appeared. YIP there you have it ,Firstly he is a Down man ,which is important, he is there for one reason only,,to win and help get Down football back to were it belongs Of course things wont happen overnight, but i have no doubt that if all players who are asked ,commit to the cause, we will move in the right direction ,
