Nothing in that today between St Eunans and Watty Grahams. The Maghera men will be relieved to get through it after being behind for most of the game. Some poor decision making in the final minutes cost St Eunans dearly as well as some harsh calls throughout the game from the ref towards them. Watty Grahams will be all the better for the tight win. Be interesting to see how far they go now. Couldn't believe the hype all week about them and St Eunans being written off. Donegal_abroad (Donegal) - Posts: 1321 - 21/11/2021 15:43:33 2390172 Link 1 |
Well done Glen. Dug it out. 50/50 game could have went either way. Both teams left chances behind them. Taking nothing away from the Derry championship, I think Derry people can see how difficult it is to win Donegal now considering this was a Eunans team who lost to Kilcar in the group stage, a kilcar team who got hockey by Glenties in the semi final, a glenties team who just got by Gaoith Donhair in the quarter. All the talk about Glen?! They were damn damn lucky in what was a terrible game. The ref must have been reading the papers aswell about this all conquering Derry team because he made sure they got the rub of the green, any 50/50s seemed to go Glens way, a penalty (although not converted) that was a joke! Eunans left it behind them missed a lot of chances that cost them in the end.Darragh Mulgrew should be given a go at senior level imo. neutral (None) - Posts: 358 - 21/11/2021 18:22:33 2390194 Link 1 |
They certainly won't be going in as hot favourites against Scotstown. Will be nothing in it and I'm sure everyone knows that. After that performance I'd be fairly sure that Scotstown beat them in 2 weeks.

I kept my powder dry on this thread all week as I wanted to see what way the cards would fall, before commenting. There was some amount of slabbering done in relation to Glen. Our lads were written off completely, in fact the talk was that Glen would be All-Ireland contenders, they may yet be, we will see, but not on that performance today. ....and a Glenties team that got destroyed by St. Eunans in the final.........

Coalisland had no scoring threat once O'Hagan went off and Dromore had a handy enough final. Also, sad to say, no Tyrone club team ever takes the provincial that seriously. I know for a fact that there's been a LOT of celebrating in Dromore this last while : ) Understandable - but not the approach of a team that is 100% serious about Ulster. Tyrone is so hard to win that whoever wins it feels genuinely that they have achieved all they want to achieve that year, and anything else is a bonus. You need to be playing in Ulster a couple of times at least in a 2 or 3 year period before you start to wise up about it and show it some respect. Until such time as one or two teams in Tyrone get head and shoulders above the rest, such that they can get a run of county titles, you won't see any Tyrone team doing much in Ulster. essmac (Tyrone) - Posts: 1141 - 21/11/2021 19:27:53 2390209 Link 0 |
Eunans remind me now of their neighbours out in 'the Glen' with der defensive approach. ryan (Donegal) - Posts: 725 - 21/11/2021 20:08:59 2390224 Link 0 |
Take it easy on those lemons Ryan. They are very bitter,

Hard to feel sorry for Eunans as that game was there for the winning if they only had thrown the shackles off and tried to win it instead of trying to hold onto the ball all game and down to the corner and then back, etc... There is no doubt that Rory and the management team had a fantastic day on the line for the county final but where was the adventure today. Definitely didn't' get the rub of the green from the ref but they didn't try to win it they just tried to not lose it. We have to change that mindset or what's the whole point? Wrong way to go. Good luck to the Derry champions going forward. MickyMick (Donegal) - Posts: 11 - 21/11/2021 20:51:39 2390235 Link 0 |
Yes my point wasn't anti St Eunans. Just showing how competitive the county is.

Correct, think that's why Cross were so successful, got playing in Ulster year after year.

When a team drops a forward for an extra defender you can smell the fear seeping out of them. AudiMan (Donegal) - Posts: 648 - 22/11/2021 08:24:38 2390251 Link 1 |
That forward you reference was injured and unavailable for yesterday's game, but don't let that get in the way of a good slabber.......

Hard luck to st eunans they put up a brave fight and we're worthy Donegal representatives. I just can't understand fellow Donegal so called gaa people having a go at eunans now. So many bitter people about it would make you cringe the same mentality is there against bonner and the county team. It's a small minority may I add. Rory and his backroom team have done a fantastic job and hopefully one day he'll manage Donegal. Yesterday s game came down to small margins, Niall o donnell looked to be fouled late on but Hurson didn't gave it no surprise there. rorysboys (Donegal) - Posts: 2411 - 22/11/2021 10:57:33 2390276 Link 1 |
That forward, who has started every Eunans game the last 2/3 years and who got a goal in the county final, came on as a sub in the 58th minute.

Big win for Sean McDermotts over Cookstown Fr. Rocks on Saturday in the Ulster Junior. They now play Belleek from Armagh. There's usually a gulf in class between junior in Monaghan compared to Armagh , so i expect another comfortable win for The Sean's . I wouldn't be surprised if the following in the footsteps of the 14 other monaghan clubs that have reached 14 out of last 19 ulster junior finals. It a pity Aughnamullen didn't get their chance last year. latefortraining (Monaghan) - Posts: 99 - 22/11/2021 11:08:35 2390280 Link 0 |
You need to have a re-think. From County Final day, Mc Geehin was dropped and Parke came in. He then came on as a sub which doesn't tie up at all with your excuses.
