Venue Equity?

(Oldest Posts First)

Croke Park has to be located somewhere and Dublin happen to have that advantage.
Leinster host their provincial semi-finals and final in Croke Park. To achieve venue equity, should Dublin's Leinster quarter-final be in the backyard of their opponent in the interest of fairness? If Dublin happen to be beaten in their away quarter-final, grant them a home Leinster quarter-final in the following year, also in the interest of fairness.
The GAA host their All-Ireland semi-finals and final in Croke Park. To achieve venue equity, should Dublin's All-Ireland quarter-final be in a neutral county provincial ground in the interest of fairness? Dublin's quarter-final opponent could agree a home and away arrangement should they happen to meet at that stage of the competition again, also in the interest of fairness.
Venue equity will strengthen the integrity of the All-Ireland championship.
Examples pre-pandemic and pre-Super 8s;
2015:
Longford v Dublin, Pearse Park.
Dublin v Fermanagh, Clones.

2016:
Laois v Dublin, O'Moore Park.
Dublin v Donegal, Clones.

2017:
Carlow v Dublin, Cullen Park.
Dublin v Monaghan, Thurles.

Colm ó Rourke said in his newspaper article that changing the championship structure is easier than dealing with the real problems of the game like population and money but he could also have trown in venue equity as well.

The dubs will blame the gaa for having to play in Croke Park but if they wanted they could get it changed really easily, they own a load of land and have loads of cash and could build a fit for purpose 30-40,000 stadium.

"2016: Laois v Dublin, O'Moore Park."

This game was played at Nowlan Park, not O'Moore.
