Is it not an u20 competition? I know they were on about changing it to u23 couple of years ago but didn't think they were going to.

No sure about either , If their was an U20 competition it would be great. I used to love the the old Under 21 club competitions at the end of the year in both Football & hurling pity they are gone .

Is their anything on the Meath Calendar for under 20 ?

Ye I'm nearly sure it's an u20 competition.
On the master planner they said if there was time at the end of the year, after all adult competitions they would try do u20.

My own opinion is that it won't go ahead this year anyway. Possibly early in the new year but that's a very slight possibility.

All adult Championships aren't scheduled to finish until last week of November and there's still few cup finals to play .If they were to do an u20 competition it would mean week on week off with hurling and football which only gives max 4 weeks to complete until it's Xmas, which is just not enough time so that's why I don't think it'll go ahead.

Yeah it does seem a pity that no Under 20 competitions might not take place as other county boards in other counties don't seem to have a problem running them ie Kildare & Offaly along with adult .

Is that confirmed? So boys from 2002 and younger? Pity for boys from 2001 who didn't get a championship last year - bloody Covid!

So would those U19's be our U20 team for 2022 effectively. So these wuld be trial games for John McCarthy and Co to be revising their panels for 2022?

Would Imagine the Under 20 squad picked already from previous years selections unless some standout player from senior championship this year but highly unlikely

I've also heard it's under 20 football but can't see any fixtures for it. Does anybody know when it's due to start?

Supposed to be 1st week in December and Knockout only ,- so cant imagine much lads wanting to play especially if only one game - should have been on a few weeks ago like other counties

And I got that wrong!!

Draw last night - Under Championship and then 4 other divisions. Straight knockout so should be run off fairly quickly.

U20 Football Championship

QF1 - Dunshaughlin vs St Colmcilles

QF2 - Ratoath v Summerhill

QF3 - Donaghmore Ashbourne v Skryne

QF4 - Simonstown v Ballinabrackey/Clonard

Semi finals - winner QF1 v winner QF2; winner QF3 vs winner QF4

* Guessing Cillies are the favourites given their recent minor successes - interested in others views on that?

And the hurling championship

U21 Hurling Championship

QF1 - Na Fianna v Kildalkey

QF2 - Clann na nGael v Killyon/Longwood

Semifinals - winner QF1 v Trim; winner QF2 v Ratoath

* Trim??

Interesting that the 3 of those are in the same side of the draw so only one of them will make the final!

Handy Final spot for Ashbourne but you'd have to fancy Cilles. Overall though when all the chat during the year is about developing our players coming out of minor that the u 20 tournament is a one off afterthought in December on mucky pitches during college leagues. It was also coerced on the county board when clubs were going to organise their own leagues and they would have lost face.
