CTG will justifiably be favourites again, but that's only on paper.

Credit to LLG, they've stepped to the table over the last few years. They absolutely have a good chance of winning. It wouldn't be a big upset.

Looking forward to a good battle.

Its hard to see LLG beating CTG but they have an outside chance. If CTG are any way complacent LLG can capitalize, they have huge hunger & into a third final in a row so they will give it everything. However if CTG play to their strengths its very hard to see them losing. The minor final should also be a good match, Plunkett's beat Clonkill in the league final but both teams had comprehensive semi final wins at the weekend so it should make for a great final. Interesting to note that Shamrocks play The Downs in the minor football final the following week & there's a huge number of players involved from both sides.

Think my last post got moderated out...

It's an uphill battle for LLG in the final. Might depend on whether or not they can get goals while stopping CTG from getting them. In the round robin that was the difference between CTG winning by more than they did and at the same time the way that game went LLG might have scraped a draw or a win because they were getting goals and were on top for the last 10 mins or so.

Who will be the referee and will that have a bearing on it. There were a lot of of frees in the Semi Final. Some unnecessary and some possibly not even frees I felt. It seemed to me there might have been a tactic or strategy from LLG to maybe accept Raharney could score from play when in possession and to be prepared to give away some frees to help keep them at distance from goal to restrict goals scoring opportunities. Not sure if it would work if that were the case against CTG.

Top hurlers between the two sides you'd think CTG have more of them Niall Brien David Reilly Peter Clarke are better than what LLG have to offer should get them over the line they've nobody to tie them all down Johnny Birmingham has done a great job on Jogger in last years final.

Don't some of the Gaels players play football with Ballycomoyle?

Wouldn't be so sure about that. Football seems to be an unwanted distraction out there. They're seeing the benefits of concentrating solely on the small ball code in fairness

County Finals week. Whats everyone's predictions

Senior
Hard to look past castletown but I'll take a chance and go for the gaels by the smallest of margins
Gaels by 1

Senior B
I think this game could come down to whether davy gavin will be fit to return or not. If Plunketts can bottle up dean ennis that will win the game for them and Plunketts always know how to bring their A game to a final
Plunketts by 5+

Intermediate
Turin have had a great run this year and going well. First final since 2009 so maybe the hype and nerves could play a huge part here. Also note that turin went through the league campaign this year unbeaten the same as championship but managed to lose the final. St.Brigids like Plunketts always know how to bring a performance to finals when they do get there.
Brigids by 3+

Hard to call.
Senior
Going with Castletown if they hungry overall just and think if perform their best they have bit more depth than the gaels. Weather may not be good may even even it up again.

Delvin plunketts depends it was close in the group but I'll go for Plunketts by 3 or 4

Intermediate
I'll go for Brigids with their momentum gained but could easily be other way around.

Brigid's to win. They've all the footballers back and there's a bit of momentum around the club.

Plunketts to win, better balanced team

CTG to win though I would like the Gaels to do it

It's 50 years this year since LLG won their first SHC. I'm sure they won't dwell on that in advance. Could be a close game. Hard to look beyond CTG though. Any thoughts on game strategies or tactics for the teams. In the round robin LLG parked Jogger in the small square to catch high ball.

Not taking away from the senior hurling final but i have to mention the u16 final last Sunday Clann nd gael vs Na Piarsaigh. It was a fantastic game of hurling it went to extra time with Na Piarsaigh coming out winners. Some exceptional players on both sides but I have to mentioned the quality and skill from young Rayleigh from Brownstown and young Williams from LLG I think it was 2.15 they both scored between frees and play. These two lads will be ones to watch with the Minor County next year. Some brillant hurlers coming through the ranks.

Is it just me or is their very little coverage or promotion of our senior and minor county finals on social media etc etc etc Surely after the football and it's incidents last weekend were parked after Sunday, the Co board should have been advertising and promoting our showpiece game/s of the season. I actually could not find out online who's in the minor final, throw in time etc etc etc

Minor Final
Clonkill going for three in a row and will be hard stopped, they have some quality players all over the team. Likewise Plunketts are not short on quality and are a big physical team. This will be a cracker, Clonkill for me in this one, but narrowly.

Intermediate Final
Two best teams in the final without a doubt. Can Turin make the breakthrough, it will be a tough ask. Brigids have the experience and the physicality but Turin have the youth and spirit. It makes for a fascinating contest. Really hard to call, I'll give the nod to Turin but will be very little between these two on Saturday.

Senior B Final
Again will be a tight game. Delvin in their third final in a row and will be very hungry to get over the line. Plunketts have motored well this year and fully deserve to be in the final. If Plunketts can get all their injured players on the field they will be hard stopped but thats a big if. Delvin will be gunning for this one and I expect a big performance from them on Saturday. Delvin for me in this but I'll not be surprised if this one ends in a draw.

Senior A final
I'm expecting a really physical battle on Sunday, its giving a showery day so don't expect any free flowing hurling. Castletown have set the standard this year and have serious talent all over the field. If they play to full potential they will be easy winners. I have been very impressed with the Gaels defensive unit this year, they are really tight at the back and will be very difficult to break down. This game is more even than the narrative suggests, Castletown were extremely fortunate to beat the Gaels in the first round. The Gaels will bring manic hunger and desire and no little skill and I am tipping them to glory on Sunday, lets hope we get a really good game on Sunday.

I'm tipping Castletown to win the senior final, it's a great game to look forward to. If it's half as good as the first round it'll be a humdinger. More pressure on llg to get over the line at the third attempt.
