Replying To wicklowsupport:  "Difficult job that Bosco has inherited. Losing to Donegal by such a large margin in hurling code shows how far the county has fallen behind the standards we once operated at. I wouldn't criticise any club participating in league in bordering counties; in fact i think other clubs in the county should do it especially at underage. Are any Bray players part of the present panel?

Tough loss consecutive weeks for the footballers. Hard to follow the game but it appeared a draw was on the cards; a draw would've been a decent result. It's going to be tough to stay in the division now - a result in the next round is vital now."
Wasn't at the game but listened on local radio. Didn't sound like a classic. Both teams got lots behind the ball. Sligo had more wides but sounds like they took more pot shots. They called out quinn and healy as our main players based on performance. So no surprise there. They were very jealous of the age profile of wicklow team , kept coming back to it. I think They said only one sligo player on that was from u 20 in last few years. They also thought lucky to get Wicklow early on as they improve with games. So some positive I didn't except such a new team to be competitive on div 3.

I think this Wicklow team will improve especially as they gain experience. The big question is: will they develop quickly enough to stay in division 3? I estimated that we'd need six points and I felt our best chance of getting those six points were against Sligo, Limerick and Clare; who are rebuilding after Colm Collins. Obviously, we got no points from our encounter with Sligo which is disappointing as it seem a draw was a possibility. I don't want to see this young team going back to Division four as I don't think there are any positives playing in that division especially in terms of developing young players. The good news is that there doesn't appear to be two outstanding teams in the division. I still fancy Down and Westmeath to be promoted but I think there will be opportunities for the team to win games and pick up points. A result in the next match is crucially in this regard.

I see that McConville is after receiving a four week ban which means that he will miss the Clare and Westmeath matches. Need to start picking up points badly or relegation will become a real possibility.

You cant carry on like he does in every game and expect to get away with it.

You'd have Westmeath down as a definite loss whether he's there or not, so hopefully he can get it reduced if nothing else and only misses that one.

At least he can get some extra podcast work in now ?

It's not like he will win a game this year anyway.

There is a bit of negativity creeping in here, wrongly, I believe. . I think it's a bit early for that. A few facts. We are in Div 3 whether we like it or not. We are probably there a year or two before we were ready for it. There will be no easy games. We have a very young squad. Most are only learning their trade. I don't believe there are many better or stronger players available or if there are, Oisin McConville is not the reason they are not in the panel. Look back on last years championship, most star performers for the prominent clubs were approaching 40. I think we are performing quite well, given all the circumstances. Where will we end up ?? To me, the most important issue is how the young players handle the pressure. They seem to be doing pretty well so far.

Hurlers off to London in the early hours of Sunday morning to play a game at 1pm and flying back later that evening. We really do make it attractive to represent our county. The hurlers are an inconvenience at this moment to our overworked county administration.

And then they wonder why lads are not togging out for the county.

I'd always have been of the mind that players should be turning out for the county, but it is hard to blame them when you see the likes of that. Joke of a setup.

Unbelievable in this day and age, or any day of age.I didn't think things could get worse, but as long as our clubs keep sending in co board delegates that don't do something then nothing will ever change

Very little feedback so far on the Louth match.

Well if you were expecting any updates or reports from the Wicklow social media sites you will never know. They have adopted the Russian model of providing no information at all lately. Didn't think it could get any worse than it had been.

Agree wholeheartedly. I did see a brief report from Bill Hill. Looks like the lads caught up twice but couldn't get their noses in front. I think it was a much changed side, but there isn't anything wrong with that. In fairness, there are a fair few talented young players coming through and trying to place them all to show their talents can't be easy. I'm not too sure if there are many stand out players coming through but many of them are scoring for their clubs.

There was no coverage on social media regarding game with Louth. I was disappointed that the game was switched to a venue in Louth when it was originally scheduled for a venue in Wicklow; having said that, why could the game not be played in Wicklow on the two previous occasions? Weather was bad the first night but last Thursday night wasn't as bad, at least where I was, if the game was to be played in the west of the county. Reviewing the team line-up, it compromised of players who haven't featured in the league to date. On paper I think it was a decent result considering that Louth are holding their own in a competitive Division 2 presently. I think the management team are compiling a young and decent squad; hopefully results will turnaround and that we can get some points on the board.

Serious thought needs to be given to the future of hurling in the county. If there is no interest to field an intercounty team and properly resource it then maybe the county need to step back at senior intercounty level for a couple of years and get the house in order. There is a lot expected of management and players at inter county level, everyone needs to be on the same page and pulling together or you are just wasting your time.

I see our hurlers got a bit of a hiding today in Ruislip. Nothing new here unless maybe the margin. The lads scored 1-20. Enough to win many games but not if you concede 3-30. I have to admit also that I was a bit hasty as another poster pointed out in blaming one particular club. Others who were lining out for Casey seem to have dropped off too. Something is indeed wrong and then you see Westmeath running a Limerick side to 5 pts. Question here is, do our great and good have the liathroidis, inclination, or even interest in getting to the bottom of this sorry fiasco or are they going to be ostrich like, bury their heads in the sands. I look at the strides that other sides like Carlow have made.

It was quite telling on his podcast this morning that he hadn't a single mention for Wicklow supporters, players, etc when he was talking about it. Surely they're the main ones he's let down with all this.
