Great day for Wicklow GAA, any win on the road is a good one. Wicklow ABU Albundy19 (Wicklow) - Posts: 91 - 06/04/2025 19:05:07 2600812 Link 0 |
Fair play to fhe team today, dug out a win when it looked like a loss...15 wides is a bit of a concern but a win in the championship is always welcome stringfellohawk (Wicklow) - Posts: 127 - 06/04/2025 20:54:52 2600835 Link 1 |
Only see there this morning that Wicklow are down to host next week. That's one that would normally have been nailed on for Portlaoise - has the Antrim Corrigan thing changed things with the season tickets or have Dublin that few now? This is one to watch. I see a lot of Dubs fans lamenting online about it being in Aughrim. Big games have been switched in previous years because of crowd capacity. Having said that, 7 or 7.5k is a very low capacity number. If we were ever to make the big time we wouldn't be able to play many big games at home.

Good result yesterday. Average performance. Fair play to the players who never gave up when it looked like the game had gone away from them. This team has many flaws but fighting spirit and not giving up is one trait they do have. Obviously a home game against Dublin is a big game for the team and supporters. Management and players need to devise a game plan to try and compete against Dublin for as much of the game as possible because it is a huge step up to play against a Division One team after competing all season against Division Four teams. London were comprehensively defeated by a Division Two team while Wexford were well beaten against a Division Three team. Both those teams beat us in the league. In relation to the game being in Aughrim. The Leinster council decided that the only game in this year's Leinster championship will be the Leinster final. With Dublin dominating the province, the council have decided there is no benefit to having these games in Dublin as Croke Park is too big for the people who will be attending. No crowd, no atmosphere. wicklowsupport (Wicklow) - Posts: 2087 - 07/04/2025 09:29:16 2600903 Link 0 |

Pay no attention. Pat comes on here from time to time, mostly making no sense. I think he is a bit delusional, to be honest. He thinks that me and Wicklowsupport are one and the same. Mostly, whenever he pops his head up it's to attack one or the other of us, or both. Never makes much in the way of debatable comment, mostly personal barbs or insults. . I suspect he is closely connected to the status quo, otherwise known as the county board. But, it takes all kinds to make a world.

I kind of disagree on this. I think if a clubs get demoted in the league so be it, I know none of us are going to be parsing a team who wins leagues and gets no where in championship. I am of the believe playing and training at a higher level will bring players on county panels and push panel players left behind. If memory is correct they done well in group stages and bombed out from a position being 10 or 11 points up, i think that more on them than any county involvement. For me more challenging aspect would be managing a team that pretty competitive at div 1

Yes great to get the win, Also great to see Jackson involved has to be worth 3 or 4 points a game with frees, especially with new rules. Be nice to get run out again the dubs, well saying this from this side of the fixture .. might have a different view this time next week.

Ah hear Im no more a co bord man that you are For years ive critised how money has been spent and wasted You mightnt like what I say but it's the truth. I said for years to you and any other theres more to GAA in this or any county than the senior team. Iys all about participating not wining. And you can complain you dont agree but get up and do something for your club and have your say there not here giving out we cant get promoted its not the most important thing. Best we can hope for is that Dessie doesn't start his best 15. It might work out to be ok, but when I look at the teams that have ran up big scores against us, even in defeat, I worry for this young team. Hopefully, I'll be proved wrong, again.

Mr Mustard. You shouldn't take yourself so seriously. I don't really care what you think, about anything. I won't lose any sleep over what you think of me, or anybody else. You are just one man among many. You could be the best club member in the country and fair play to you if you are . I have done my bit back in the day but, heading for 80, I think I have done enough. There is too much old age and grey hair around the top table in this county and always has been. Sometimes it looks like a senior citizens meeting. But, there are problems in this county. Whether you agree with having a senior team or not, entrance, or whether you agree with promotion or not, we are in the bottom half dozen in both codes. They are facts and no amount of bluster changes them. Some of us on here enjoy conversations about how things are and how they might be improved. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and nobody deserves to be ridiculed by anyone else.

You're very worried about my movements. So if i'm not associated with a club, i can't get tickets for the match on Sunday? Am i correct?

You aren't in the bottom half dozen in hurling, and if you got your best players to commit and gave your hurlers proper support you'd be in the top half of counties.

Of counties with serious teams, we are close enough. Nowhere near where we used to be. We are now struggling to beat counties from Mayo north and the other Ulster counties. As I have always been a supporter of hurling - and played a bit in my younger days, our fall down the pecking order hurts. I would struggle to name 6 teams that we would beat on any given day currently.
