I believe Carlow have two representatives according to there social media. Why couldn't we, we most definitely should if that's the case, few players not in county finals this weekend well able to get onto panel!

I was just trying to think of players who might qualify. Mark Jackson definitely would be in contention had he been available but I think that Cluxton would get that shout. All our younger players are just proving themselves. Dean Healy and PO'Toole might be in contention, and that Fogarty from Roundwood must be one of the nippiest wing backs in Leinster. I think that again, it's down to the selectors and what colour glasses they are looking through.

The likes of Kevin Quinn, Malachy stone and Jack Kirwan also spring to mind with the latter unavailable.

I think that there are Wicklow players who are good enough to play for Leinster; I've no doubt that our players are as good as the majority of players in Leinster outside Dublin. Unfortunately, a lot of the time, players are picked based upon where they are from as oppose to how talented they are. Also, there is the preferences of the manager and his selectors, he/they may stick with a safe option as oppose to take a chance on some unknowns. It will be interesting to see how the new rules play out in a real game scenario. I welcome some of the changes as I think they are really required but I think there will be difficulty if the rules are adapted with no pre season games for players to become accustomed to them if they are passed by congress.

Kildare are about to unveil their new stadium which has an increased capacity of 15,000, in the centre of Newbridge, with no additional parking!!! I'm puzzled about parking in Aughrim. Ok, there was a large number of cars at recent matches but when you enter the seating\terrace area, the crowd is sparse enough - is everyone driving to matches with one per car? There is an old abandoned factory beside the grounds; why don't WIcklow GAA purchase it and expand the parking area? I don't understand the warm up area; can teams not warm up on the pitch before a game? Finally, is the plan to install floodlights shelved? I know there were plans to install floodlights but I see no evidence, any time, I'm in the grounds?"
The idea of the warm up area is to save the pitch from getting cut up over the summer as so many games are played there. I think the waste ground behind the town end goal, plus extended slightly into the car park, would have been a better location for it. It's right beside the dressing rooms and the kids could look in at the adults warming up before games. Or even have one warm up area behind the goal for one team, and half of the current warm up area in the car park for the other.

If anything the inter pro matches should include more players from your smaller counties to give them greater exposure. I'm not really sure what benefit it would be to a Dublin player who's won 10+ Leinster and 6/7 All Irelands.

Whatever using fringe players on the panel, but Cluxton, McCarthy et al is crazy.

I see the panels are announced for the trials over the weekend. Wicklow with 2 is as much as we could hope for. Dean Healy well deserves it. I'm not totally convinced that K Quinn is the best forward we have in the county but congrats to him as well.

Dean Healy and Kevin Quinn are part of the Leinster squad for the upcoming inter provisional game in croke park. Best of luck to both players. I'm particularly pleased for Dean Healy who is coming to the end of his intercounty career; he's been outstanding for Wicklow in the last two seasons and a great servant over the last decade.

Dean and Kevin are the only 2 players of that class and maybe Jackson if not playing for his club.

How come there was no game? Did the small wind that wouldn't have blown out a candle have anything to do with it??

Seems like it was called off on H&S grounds. Wicklow seems to have dodged that particular bullet, thankfully. I'm ****** off at being left in the dark every time nature farts. In fairness to the Co Board, there was a Status Yellow warning for the whole country. If a supporter had got injured in any way while travelling from trees or debris it would be a different story - and I'm no fan of our Co Board.

I believe it's refixed for next Saturday. The u 17 A final is fixed for Sunday. A great chance missed to have both finals on the same day - due to, er, congestion fears ?

According to the message I saw on Wicklow GAA's twitter account, it was due to health and safety due to the weather alert. It feels these days that if Met Eireann issue a warning above yellow. the country grinds to a halt. I'm not sure what it was like in Aughrim but where I was, I feel the game could have gone ahead. The wind may have taken from the game but I wouldn't class the wind as overly dangerous or a threat to life. Maybe it is due to insurance but these are the times we live in now. Anyway, hopefully the game can proceed next Saturday as planned. In fairness, there were a number of notices on both TV, radio and online about the game being rescheduled.

Yes agree met eireann love a bit of click bate. But I think the county board have to be cautious about these things. Safety has to come first if there a risk and also ruins the game too. Where i was it was pretty windy. But more annoying is we are nearly in November with no country final played, so much for the split season.

Should there more incentive to win the group in this format I.e winner of group in semi finals. Second and third in quarter final, fourth out. Fifth out. Six relegation playoff. I just think in this formats the group games there's to many back doors."
Yes your suggested tweeks could be a good incentive, as i have heard people saying Tinahely have gotten to the final with only winning 1of 5 group games. But funny i quite like the structure as there is so little between all the teams anything can happen. On peeking , I think its true from league to championship with the gap(too longer in my opinion). But i don't think teams can easy them self into the championship.
