No better way to commence a Kildare GAA topic than with a managerial announcement. Glenn Ryan with the backing of Anthony Rainbow, Dermot Earley and Johnny Doyle. A new horizon. No greater a pack of Kildare legends could you find. Was gunning for Davy Burke myself but this has given me genuine jitters of excitement. Delighted for Glenn Ryan, an absolute gentleman. Would nearly make me root for Kildare when not playing Meath. Nearly. Good to get some real honorable Kildare men involved and a bit of integrity into the management setup. Crinigan (Meath) - Posts: 1352 - 02/10/2021 07:12:44 2384088 Link 4 |
Fantastic news! The fans will be back in numbers big time, can't wait! There'll be no damage limitation with those guys. St.Conleth (Kildare) - Posts: 1701 - 02/10/2021 10:23:49 2384097 Link 2 |
Fantastic Appointment, 4 finer Kildaremen you could not find. Really looking forward to the passion that they will instill in the team As a player Glennew season in Div 1 and n Ryan took a backward step to no man and drove his Kildare teams on. If he brings the same as .manager we have good days ahead. NorthKildare (Kildare) - Posts: 197 - 02/10/2021 11:44:03 2384108 Link 0 |
I could never understand how Glen Ryan was always overlooked for this job. Obviously politics play their part but his record with Kildare u21's and Longford in his first two inter county jobs surely entitled him to a crack at it ahead of Jason Ryan and Cian O'Neill. He comes across as the most passionate Kildare man you will meet so I can understand the excitement among Kildare people since he was announced. mintyfresh (Westmeath) - Posts: 240 - 02/10/2021 13:40:32 2384127 Link 0 |
Probably the same reason why Davy Burke keeps getting overlooked.

Exactly I don't think this management team of former kildare legends will be patting themselves on the back delighted with a 8 point defeat, best of luck to kildare and your new management team, looking forward to our next meeting hopefully a leinster final.

Hard to say Davy Burke keeps getting overlooked. He's 33 years of age. This is the first time he's been realistically mentioned for the job. He will be manager before he's 40 no doubt. Glen Ryan is almost 49 years old.

Certainly not. It's an out and out pack of gutsy, passionate Kildare men. Couldn't choose a better 4.

Davy Burke is 32/33 ,he has plenty of time to manage Kildare in future. Ryan is a good appointment. Kildare were prone to appointing outside men so this seems a good management team. Seems a better fit then Cribbin FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2802 - 02/10/2021 18:07:06 2384180 Link 0 |
Good appointment for Kildare to actually have genuine Kildare people involved for a change. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 03/10/2021 15:10:36 2384249 Link 0 |
Great to see Glen Ryan get the kildare gig at last, I think he will suit ye better than Jack O'Connor in fairness. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 03/10/2021 15:35:12 2384255 Link 0 |
Cian O'Neill was manager before O'Connor, he's a genuine Kildare man. Most of O'Connors back room team were genuine Kildare men.

What an exciting backroom team Glen Ryan is bringing in with him. Rainbow Earley Johnny Doyle Lacey. Exciting times ahead. CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 3840 - 04/10/2021 19:52:21 2384418 Link 0 |
I think what he meant was its great to have kildare men involved that have actually won things with kildare in intercounty football, they all have leinster medals, I see lacey has been added to the management team now.

How do we see the semi-finals going? brianb (Kildare) - Posts: 331 - 19/10/2021 10:28:46 2386200 Link 0 |
I would love to see a Celbridge v Naas final and Naas to win it. Nothing against any of the other teams especially Maynooth but would love to see Leper finish his career with a county medal. If Maynooth beat Naas then I think most would probably like to see them win the final . All sentimental of course and Sarsefields odds on!! Another strong showing from Naas on Saturday. They look in great form. I hope they can go on and win it. Sarsfields did just about enough to get back back in the final; a little bit more composure and Celbridge would have been there. I really like the look of this Naas team - I think they're well equipped to win and go on a decent run in Leinster. brianb (Kildare) - Posts: 331 - 27/10/2021 12:11:02 2387569 Link 1 |
Hope you're right on both counts Brianb! Really looking forward to this one St.Conleth (Kildare) - Posts: 1701 - 07/11/2021 10:45:47 2388610 Link 1 |
Well done Naas. Deserving winners and great for the county to have different winner. Was at their last county final win as well , didn't expect them to wait so long :) St.Conleth (Kildare) - Posts: 1701 - 07/11/2021 16:42:14 2388637 Link 1 |
