St Kierans that won the Senior Football - What counties do they draw players from ? , Thought they were Kerry one time but that may be different these days

From reading the programme on Sunday they have players from all over Ireland including some Native Londoners.

It's the same for most clubs having players from all four provinces. The days of TCG being all Donegal men and KKG being all Kerry men is long gone.

Good piece on London here. They have retained most of their squad from last year and are quietly going about their business. I see the pundits are saying that the Div 4 sides will have them figured out but I think London will cause problems.

disappointing start to the league for the hurlers and footballers.

Hurlers seem to have a few new faces, but the footballers seem to be a fairly steady panel with many of the same players involved from last year. The Sligo game was very disappointing very flat and never really looked like winning it. Shame as they haven't seemed to have kicked on under maher this year despite some good players in there. Are they winding themselves up for a good tilt at the Connacht champ and a shot at a provincial final?

London were poor on Sunday, especially in the second half. It was as if the management hadn't taken in to account the conditions. First half they played well and were unlucky with the goal and also Sligo's late rally at the end of the half.

Second half was very negative; short kick outs when the keeper could have easily hit the opposite 40 with that wind. Also didn't kick anything long when in possession around the middle. Went backways and lateral far too much and really only played with 2/3 permanent forwards in the second half.

At club level I see cup games are starting mid April with the league in June, three bank holidays in May probably dictating this schedule. Fancy Wandsworth to push on, seem to be well run and do really well at recruitment.
At senior you would fancy Round Towers to challenge Fulham and St Kiernans.

Anyone know what's going on with Neasden Gaels? Conceded both their fixtures in the early season competition.

Seen St Jude's are playing in London as well. Is that a permanent thing or a bit like Finbarrs playing a few games in the hurling?

I think its just for League and Cups. Neasden seem to be finished, a fall from grace given all the talk a few years ago of flying lads over and back from Ibiza for games etc and paying big money just to lose a London senior semi final.

What is happening with the hurling?
I hear it has been delayed due to an illegal player in the semi final.
Robert Emmets seem to have gone very petulant now threatening to wind the club up in an act of desperation?
It seems again that club, county and provincial figures don't seem to know the rules or making them up as they go along just like a few years ago after covid.
An absolute shambles. Everyone is doing these jobs voluntarily but surely heads need to roll, if people aren't fit for their positions they shouldn't be there.
Gabriels will win their appeal it seems but they should offer a replay and Emmets need to withdraw their childish statement.

That craic still going on??

Surprised to hear Neasden are now officially gone. I know they weren't the most popular but sad to see another go nonetheless.

Always sad to see clubs disappear in London as Neasden following the likes of Moindearg, Heston, Shalloe Pearses of recent times.

Unfortunately, Neasden were always headed this route after they never found a way of replacing their strong core of the 2000's and early 2010s. The likes of the Geraghty's, Dunleavy, Comer, Duffy, Lynch, Maguire, Gaughan, Scanlon were a good, strong experienced team who aged together and moved on together. Unlike other clubs, they had no under age system and became reliant on imports.

Their recent efforts in flying lads over, including the likes of Caolan Mooney and Jamie Clarke, who didn't even live in London were desperate when they were playing will very little leave sympathy for their demise.

But it must be remembered Neasden were one of the strong teams for 25 years or so, but sad fact is the 21st century left them behind.

Following on from the chat about clubs folding over the years, i saw via social media the club football championships are starting in London this week.
Last night (Tuesday night) 2 clubs played their first round of the championship in ruislip at 7pm, one of the clubs is based in south east London and forced to travel and play in north west London at 7pm. They were also well beaten in the match, possibly impacted by player availability.
Google maps estimates the journey to be approx 1.5 hours each way from where their club is shown on the map.
Poor organisation like this must contribute to the decline of players in the game and, therefore, clubs folding.

Kiernans won Div 1. Are they the favourites for the Senior champ?
Does anyone know the format for Junior Champ, given the small number of teams?

The south based club in question Cuchulians have been very poor all year.

senior championship could be quite open. Seems to be 4/5 very strong teams according to people in london

only 4/5 jr clubs in championship i think? Round robin and a final?

Any one want to do predictions for all 3 tiers

A valid point but a bit naive to think players live beside their pitch location and travel to Ruislip. Unlikely the game will have been scheduled for a Tuesday without engagement from both clubs. Assuming there were reasons why this was scheduled for then as a Tuesday night championship wouldnt be imposed on clubs for no reason.

The Junior format has been very bad this year. 4 teams in total and the same in division 3. Both will need wholesale changes next year as a 4-team competition is ridiculous.

As for predictions

Senior - TCG, up and down in the league but have a feeling they'll come good for championship. NLS will be dark horses and Kiernans and Fulham in the mix as always.
Between KKG and Parnells to go down.

Intermediate - Dulwich v Harlesden final, with Dulwich taking it by 2/3 and securing back to back promotions. Cuchullains have been awful and will head down to junior.

Junior - Tara should be winning this comfortably. Big club, huge player pool to choose from and up against development teams apart from the Joes. Hard to know what's gone so badly wrong for Joes in recent times, very poor this season. TCG to reach the final butTara to take it by 5.

Senior- I think Kiernans will win it and make it 3 in the last 4 I believe. Signed some very good players and have plenty of experience. NLS with their Donegal contingent might not be far off and you can never rule out Fulham. Kiernans to beat Fulham by 4 in final.

Intermediate- Surprising to see Dulwich beaten in group as they've been good all year. Harlesden and Clarets could run them close in Semis/ Final. I reckon Dulwich by 5 in final.

Junior- Seems like it's just a group stage and the top 2 in final. Surely Junior and Intermediate might amalgamate soon? Seems like Tara are the strongest left in Jr and their strong underage setup is finally paying off. Tara to beat Kiernans jr
