Pp have the handicap at 14 points today. Without Clifford I don't see Jerry winning by 14. Dare I said it but could there be an almighty shock in this one? Limerick have been hugely impressive this year tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 28/05/2022 11:05:53 2420563 Link 0 |

I'd take it that was a tongue in cheek comment. Clifford was held scoreless from play in last years Munster final and like today Kerry won by 20 plus points.

Limerick lads need to keep the heads up. It's a tough ask to go up against the Div 1 champions. The format isn't fair and some change is coming next year. Rolo2010 (Donegal) - Posts: 746 - 28/05/2022 17:12:07 2420637 Link 0 |
As one of a number of fans who dont really go to football matchs but went to Killarney yesterday it was a very meek showing, kicking the ball out was even a challenge for Limerick. Hard to know how a team going playing Division 2 were so conservative in the way they set up and played. Hugely unentertaining to watch , i recall 2010 and 1991 as very exciting matchs but yesterday was a borefest, maybe thats modern gaelic football but be hard to attract any new Limerick fans playing like that . Gaelic football is poison when it's played like Limerick played yesterday. It's firmly the 4th sport in Limerick but I expected a more positive game plan. They've no forwards at all. Not one. And this gameplan of short kick out, pass laterally and then have some guy on a weird head down looping run ...so predictable. Is Gaelic football the only field sport where lateral passing is seen as effective. Just guys out of their depth. I wouldnt criticise anyone really except the gameplan. They didn't have a go. That's as good as they are really and they are going nowhere. They ll be relegated from Division 2 next year and probably Divison 3 the year after..then the cycle of mediocrity starts again. bloodyban (Limerick) - Posts: 1710 - 29/05/2022 12:35:00 2420741 Link 3 |
It was the equivalent of Derry playing Waterford in hurling. The format is all wrong. Limerick are second tier county and should be competing against the likes of Cork, Westmeath, ect.

Lads put things into perspective here. Kerry are favourites to win the All Ireland. Limerick obviously came up with a game plan to try and stifle Kerry. It didn't work on the day and it didn't look pretty. Kerry were better all over the feild which was as expected. If it was a Munster hurling final between Limerick and Kerry it would be a similar miss match. However, Limerick earned the right to be there and will learn more from that game than any of the division 3 games they played this year. They are now into the qualifiers and will play another top 16 team. This is fantastic preparation for playing div 2 next year. Yes they do need to develop their attacking game so hopefully they will lift themselves for the next game. onwards and upwards from here. Excellently put. Not alone are kerry division 1, they look like the most likely to win the all ireland and win it well. The lads will be disappointed that they didn't make more of a game of it, and there's no hiding from the fact that it was a routine but there is an enormous gulf in quality. It will be intersection to see how close other teams come to kerry this year. Mads (Limerick) - Posts: 367 - 29/05/2022 16:57:50 2420794 Link 0 |
That should say rout not routine

Win it well. kerry will be doing well to beat Dublin at all in their likely semi final. The Dubs were outstanding yesterday and I'd consider Dublin v Kerry this year as 50/50.

It will be interesting to see how Kerry fare out against the other real contenders this year you mean? They haven't won a championship game against another top team for the last few years now. And they will be coming in cold into a QF having not really been tested. Again. Hopefully Limerick get a good draw now to get your lads back winning again.

I think having Jack O'connor who has literally been there and done that and the bitter disappointment of last year will stand to kerry well. It's not like Dublin have had much competition in leinster either. Just my opinion but I honestly think any of the others would be doing well to get within 6 points of kerry this year. Just my opinion.

Best of luck to all players and management in thurles on Sunday.. CTGAA10 (Limerick) - Posts: 2499 - 03/06/2022 11:02:43 2421926 Link 0 |
I'm in Shannon today and am really struck by the extent of expectation and optimism around for the Clare hurlers. It seems to be much more pronounced than in Limerick. I'm really pleased about that because that sense of challenge is creeping across the border. I know that teams now days run very tight ships but these sentiments do get back to players. Clare are coming to challenge us and they're not shy about telling us. The other thing that I never realized is the sense of disappointment in Clare over 2018 when they felt that they had a legitimate shot of winning that All Ireland that Limerick subsequently won. Clare wants to beat Limerick on Sunday really badly. Dealer (Limerick) - Posts: 837 - 03/06/2022 16:03:58 2422030 Link 0 |
