Well done to our minors last night and good luck to the seniors today!
Any word on the venue for the U20 semi final?

Hard luck to the Sligo seniors this afternoon. You are shades of us in 2014 when we were playing in Div 3 and should have beaten Mayo in the championship but ended up losing narrowly. From good U21 teams we built on that to rise the Divisions and win a few Connacht titles. With Sligo U20s success the platform is there for Sligo seniors to do similar now and if progress continues Sligo will be capable of rising up the Divisions and win a Senior Connacht title within the next 3 or 4 years.

Galway underperformed and Sligo performance exceeded our expectations. Disappointed not to get the win when winning in injury time but we are proabbaly better off in TC. A real chance of doing very well in that if perform like today.

The biggest disappointment today was the poor crowd. Sligo winning in injury time and at no stage did the crowd get behind the team. I know expectations are low but the difference in a game like that can be a lift from a home support

A repeat of todays effort will win any TC game, and indeed you deserved to win today, but its not as easy to excel against TC teams for some reason. In the 5 minutes before the goal ye did seem to run out of legs. Best of luck in TC.

Very disappointing for Sligo to lose to a late Galway goal yesterday.

Hard luck Saturday against Galway, some focusing more on galways missing men than crediting your performance, which didn't recieve praise it deserves among the other games from wkd.

The first division 3/4 team to show in championship that can compete with "top" team, unfortunate turnover cost you but definitely bright future for that team.

What was the attendance? Looked a very small crowd for a semi final?

I've no doubt the scandalous fixing for early Saturday afternoon didn't help

fair post and thank you. People must realise that we are missing some of our key players too in Pat Spillane and Luke Towey. I hope this team keeps pushing on as I really do believe in them. A run to final of TC is what is needed now and next year a good push for D2. Bringing through some of our U20's in next few years is key too. Sligeach abu

4600 attended which is poor, only 500 up on the Leitrim Sligo game. The time didn't help surely but many would have been expecting a bigger Galway win which would have kept some at home from both counties I suspect. Had it been in Salthill it could have been even less I think.

Very hard luck to Sligo. To nearly beat a Div1 side from Div3 is some going, perhaps the Connacht championships is not quite dead yet. A good example to use to work on developing young lads with the right structures and once success is tasted at minor/U20 it will bring on to the senior side. Hope ye got a great run in the TC, all we can genuinely hope for is to get out of the group stages as we are lucky to be in Div3 next year.

Hard luck to Sligo at the weekend. Ye were undoubtedly the better team and deserved the win. Best of luck in the TC, hope ye win it. Sligo underage and now snr are on the up - great grassroots work happening there. Meanwhile, we seem to have plenty of talent in our Galway setup but not properly prepared at all. Our mgmt team are under real scrutiny.

It was a tough end to a game that we should have won. No point in wallowing in self pity, it was our own fault. If it was the officials fault the forum would be jammed with people criticizing. We will just have to learn from it and move on. We will regroup and hopefully give a good account of ourselves in the Tailteann Cup

Obviously the seniors defeat was gut wrenching as it feels like a missed opportunity. It was very hard to predict. We knew Galway were weaker and we would be better at home but I don't think even management would have expected 14-11 lead in the closing stages. I do wonder did they train for this scenario because I am not sure on the game management side. When Eddie (who played really well) made the mistake there were 11 Sligo players ahead of the ball and 2 behind who ended up facing a Galway 5 on 2 in the last kick of the game. That to me is a mistake that we hopefully learn from. I know nobody would have expected the error from the good pass but still 11 players ahead of the ball at that stage. Such a pity after playing so well. I never seen a manager as happy in defeat as McEntee, not sure I'd share it tbh but I guess he's delighted with the performance and his reputation will have got another boost. The Management do deserve a lot of credit. The team was well prepared and tactically sound for this game. They definitely got the best performance possible out of this team at the right time. Are we now to expect to be competitive against the Connacht big 3 from now on at senior. I hope and believe so. This year has showed progress at senior. Now is the time for consistency.

The support was very poor but I guess that maybe partly due to the time. Hard to believe the Connacht Council would screw themselves that way but I still think more people should have been there.

Hopefully we can make a good run at the Tailtean cup as we are capable of winning it.

Wishing the boys well this evening. Dry evening, good pitch and hopefully a good crowd. Winning there last week should stand to them

All the best to the U20s today, really looking forward to this one. Hopefully the kickouts will be sorted after the first half last week as Galway will look to put massive pressure on them. As you say eoinog we should have an advantage with the venue after last week and Galway playing so poor there recently too.

Praying for momentum from the Mayo game but if you watched the previous Galway game (like me), Galway looked far far sharper, fitter and skillful than us.

Best of luck lads, as usual it should be a wild ride!

Galway 0-23 Sligo 1-12 - very disappointing end to the u20 campaign. The shocking 10-1 down start was not recoverable from and Galway well worth their victory. The lads never gave up and scored some serious points. I am sure lots to learn from and now hopefully these lads will push on into the senior set up next year. This is the team that started it all and laid the foundations of underage provincial titles and for that I am very grateful to the players and management. Keep the chin up lads.

Hard luck lads tonight, Sligo U20s simply met Galway at their very best tonight. Two in a row Connacht U20 title plus a semi final this year plenty of good player coming through to work with and improve the senior team further now and in the years ahead

You can only go to the well so many times. Our U.20 team didn't have a good year but rather than dwel on the shortcomings this year we should look back at the last few years with immense pride. There are loads of players in the county now with one , two and three Connacht medals, a few with individual accolades of getting named on teams of the year and some lads have made the transition to the senior set up. Things are looking good. Maybe some posters on here might come down a peg or two after their stupid posts about this team before a ball was kicked in the championship. I would like to see Paul Henry stay for a third year with the U.20 team.
