Replying To Taypot:  "I'm not so sure that Div 3 is weaker this year. Fermanagh appear to be the whipping boys this year. We were beaten by the top 2 teams last year and I think it will be the same this year. People expected that once we got in the local mgt that they would bring in lads that were supposed to have got a raw deal last year. That's why I went through the names that the other poster had listed. Nothing has really changed. It's the same lads. Div 3 is our standard and I can't see that changing in the next few years."
Can't agree with that. There has been a massive change in the composition of the panel. Ross, Sheridan, Flynn, Casserley, Gorman were nowhere near the team last year as McEntee selected the players who played for him over the previous 5 years and largelt ignored the claims of the succeessful u20 teams. The team got stale as he continued to pick the same players with very little change. New mgmt have brought in many of the younger players (including the 5 mentioned above who all started last weekend) this will bear fruit in the years to come.

Our inconsistent league form for me is because of so many changes is line up. I think it's a brave if risky move by mgt to use the league to blood new players and try players in new positions, it is obviously looking at the long term and there will have to be a cull in the panel for the championship.

I am delighted to see so many players getting a run. However if MC Guinness, Mullen, O Connor and Cummins were fit this weekend they would all be straight back into the team. I didn't mention Carabine as he is a long term injury. That's the point I am making. We haven't improved. We still can't kick 2 pointers. The best 2 players we have for that is Quinn and Spillane. Quinn has hardly been used and Spillane is best when he comes on. I am not hopeful going to Wexford

I'm a glass half full so I am optimistic that we can get a victory in Wexford. Wexford will be looking at the table and saying that if they can beat us, then it's Clare away and then a home game against Westmeath with the winner probably taking second place. It's a massive incentive for them. I would prefer to look at our own performances however . Getting hammered by a poor Laois team away from home was very disappointing so there was pressure on us last weekend. We got the job done. We put ourselves under huge pressure by making silly mistakes. Those mistakes cost us at least a point in Mullingar and kept Limerick in the game right up to the last Limerick infringement. Thankfully their error allowed us move up the field and gave us the insurance point. Even against Fermanagh we just pulled away in injury time. We seem to have loads of players that do very well when introduced but when they get the starting jersey they freeze. We haven't got the new manager bounce that both Mayo and Roscommon have gotten but I still think we will click and hopefully that will be on Sunday.

I'm inclined to agree with you on Wexford I think they are beatable and if it were in Markievicz I'd back our lads no problem. The journey isn't ideal but I don't think we can be as bad as the Laois performance. Im not sure if the management know their best 15 from the fit players available at present which is grand for driving on fellas to push into starting 15 but at round 5 things should be beginning to stabilise. It hasn't been a good Friday evening for Sligo sport so hopefully things will improve tomorrow!
