Sometimes it's no harm for it to go quiet. It's the silly season when there's not much football so people tend to speculate ,gossip, and maybe an odd lie thrown in out of boredom. I was pleasantly surprised to read that Markievicz Park will be fit to host our Co football games this coming year. That's a major achievement and well done to the Co Board on this achievement. There is also plans for new spectator toilets which are badly required. All positive developments. I don't know where the FBD games are going to be played, I'm assuming Bekan. It's good that their will be a minimum of 2 games. Summerhill failing to reach the school semi final is disappointing. I didn't hear about the former U.20 mgt team going anywhere. Can you enlighten us ?

Most of the successful 2 20s teams are involved in training at the moment. Johnson, oboyle, Sheridan, Casserly, Dillon Walsh, Ross, Keaney, Flynn as well as the others who were on the panel last year.

Carabine is a very good player but he wasn't around last year . We certainly could do with him but I don't know when he will return. No idea who will be captain. It's a role that some players excel in and others flounder

Ah good old Timmy. I think the old saying goes something like this, that if you haven't something good to say about a person, then say nothing. Have a good Christmas and cheer up. eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 2322 - 17/12/2025 19:10:39 2648713 Link 1 |

Best of luck to John Murphy, an experienced administrator and a good GAA man. Great to see a Sligo in the race. Any word on club Managers? Seems to be a good bit of change. laochragael (Sligo) - Posts: 19 - 17/12/2025 21:17:47 2648719 Link 0 |

He's a good man surely. He must have his sums done and feels that he has a chance. A good solid candidate but possibly viewed as an outsider.

Happy New Year to you all and may 2026 see a bit of silverware come over the border. Easkey hurlers have a great chance next week and we all wish them well. There's a 45 man panel named for the senior men with loads of new faces and the departure of several lads, that were mostly on the peripheral of the match day 26. The spine of last years team remains more or less the same. With Evan Lyons taking a break and MC Guinness injured there's 2 spots in last years full back line that's up for grabs. The FBD competition isn't the most lucrative competition in the first few days of January but it will give the mgt an opportunity to view the team in a competitive atmosphere. A positive performance would set us up nicely for the league. eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 2322 - 02/01/2026 15:32:33 2649422 Link 0 |

There's two games this weekend and thus two panels, one was named yesterday and one today! Or am I Eamon O'Hara in disguise?!

15 euro to get into a game between 2 teams that are experimenting with line ups. I think I will give it a miss. Taypot (Sligo) - Posts: 232 - 03/01/2026 11:59:41 2649495 Link 0 |

Very positive panel selections. There have been calls for many of these players to be included in a last few years of McEntees reign. Most of the players who are/were not good enough have also been omitted. Interesting to see how O'Boyle performs at wing back. Good to see Kilgallon and Cawley return. I see Evan Lyons has been added to today's teamsheet which is a great boost for the league.

That was encouraging. Two Deignans looked very dangerous. Thought Sheridan did well around the middle and full back line was solid. BreakingBall123 (Sligo) - Posts: 167 - 03/01/2026 14:28:21 2649513 Link 0 |
