Fair comment. Really is discriminating particularly for older people. I see the reasons for doing it but lads being turned away from games they've gone to all their lives is shocking stuff

I'd visit rekations in Louth a few times a year for past 30 years and used always enjoy taking in a few local games and saw some very enjoyable games over the years but in the past 5 to 10 years have seen a sizeable shift from good football matchs to robots playing the game in a characterless fashion . One time players were lauded for their fielding ability , kicking a dead ball off the ground , kicking with both legs or been able to solo , jink & weave your way through a defence . Nowadays it's beep tests , lifting weights , your height and weight and ability to retain possession rather than do anything creative with the ball sadly . I used attend football matchs in a number of counties but have largely given up , in Kerry you might still have pockets of Gaelic football but it's gone in most counties to athletes trying to play the game . In the likes of Limerick it's only family and a ever shrinking group of fanatics that attend club football matchs which's leads to athmosphere less grounds outside of all the negative tactics .

S&C, dieticians, stats men etc have taken over GAA.

They need to get paid, so this agenda is pushed by them that lifting weights, fitness testing is the most important part of Gaelic football.

How many clubs would hire a kicking coach over a S&C coach?

Intermediate semi finals should be tight and even affairs. At this stage I'd say the SOMs must be favourite outright.

Hunterstown v Mattock Rangers or S.O.M v the Gaels would be some tasty finals. I'm sticking with Hunterstown to win it.

Now that my selection Kilkerley are gone I'll go for my No.2 SOM. Reckon they'll meet Hunterstown in final.

Replying To Ajam2777:  "Such nonsense. voting to keep that area dormant. I'm sure they are proud to see lads and lassies from the area playing for Roche soms islanders clans & Gaels. Spoke to a younger dowdallshill man and he said the club is devastated.. this isn't the field of dreams. Build it and they will come. An area has to be worked and 85 year olds with all the will in the world can't do so. As for the fort rangers I'd say they are called the pats now."
You have a lot to learn.

Congrats to Sam Mulroy, Tommy Durnin, Craig Lennon and Donal Mc Kenny who have all been nominated for an All Star. What a fantastic achievement for Louth to get four nominations considering we have only had five nominations before since the All Stars began in 1970. Danny Nugent, Damien Reid, Gerry Farrell, John O Brien and Paddy Keenan have all been nominated before.

Here Here , Well done to the lads. It's a good reflection on the great year they gave us and the efforts of the management team and the rest of the panel. Great encouragement for next year. Hope we get more to join Paddy Keenan.

Ah no probs at all. Jobser what a servant for the S.O.M and for Louth. A gentleman on and off the pitch. If I was picking my favourite Louth team from this century he would be on it.

Sam Mulroy or Craig Lennon probably has Louths best chance to win an All Star. I would say Lennon will shade it before Mulroy. It would be great if one gets an All star.

Would be amazing to get an all star for any of our players. Best wishes to them all.

Fab news on 4 nominations all deserved but it will be tight to get 1 from a QF win. Maybe Sam for his dead ball kicking excellence and workmate.

Cooley and the Gers escape the drop in senior and live to breathe again for another year.

Feckins or the Brides going down. Most people who put up their predictions put either of them two to go down. I put the Brides myself to go down.

He hasn't gone away, you know! Great man! Even met and shook hands with the Queen of England. How many GAA players can say that? Pure class!
