@jigger often once a management has its term done they don't want to see it again. Under financed and poorly supported in theory a management team should bring them from 14s all the way but that doesn't happen either, it's not good and needs to change.

@carlo the underage football results in general are alarming, we haven't won a minor game since 2022 and that was against wexford who have beaten us easily this year and last, we haven't competed with anyone outside of wicklow or wexford since late in the last decade when we drew with laois two years in a row. As far as I'm aware we haven't won an u20/u21 game since 2012. It doesn't augur well for the future.

Our underage results really are alarming lads. Especially when you see so called other 'weaker' counties producing competitive minor and u20 teams. Only last night Longford minors beat dublin by 5 points and the previous night Leitrim under 20s beat Mayo.

Huge congratulations to Carlow ladies footballers on winning division four and going up to division three as champions today. Belief is half the battle. Come on lads believe in yourselves tomorrow against Wexford.

Absolutely. Brilliant for the ladies to win out the league. They have been knocking on the Junior Championship door for a few years now so to get promotion & then to win the league outright is great. As regards our men tomorrow I wish them all the best. We will be up against it as we are down Morrissey, Foley & Phiri from when we played them a few weeks ago in the league & that turned into a 10 point loss. We never got going that night but we were level with ten minutes to go. Nothing to lose tomorrow and fingers crossed we can pull off a result. Hopefully it won't be as windy as today

Our underage teams are criminally under funded.

There should never be an occasion where a county board official has better gear that an young aspiring 14 year old. that's the reality, the Carlow CB have been a negative towards the promotion of games, simple as.

Best of luck carlow today. They got a bad beating in the league but championship always different. What do you think.

Shocking result, where do we go from here. All the hype about trying to win promotion in div 4 i think was a smokescreen by management. Managers time is up but i dont know how you would entice a new manager or encourage other players into a county set up. Must be the worse day in Carlow gaa history in recent years.

You couldn't be more correct. All rubbish with no concrete evidence to go by.

I come here in peace & certainly not to gloat.

I said here after the league game that all didn't look right in the camp, I think that was proven today. The bad attitude was highlighted by the way Clarke threw a tantrum when he was subbed off before half time.

It's also farcical that you don't play again for at least 6 weeks,

I really feel sorry for anyone who went to wexFord today. The players and supporters are being sold a pup here. All this bluffing talk about being in with a shout today because we were level with wexFord in the league after 55 minutes. It's all talk with no substance. Wexford had a huge number of wides against us that day and should have been out of sight at half time. To lose by 27 points to a div 4 team is disgraceful and no amount of bluffer talk can hide that.

Time to concentrate on hurling at inter county level lads. That's shocking

A dark day, not the first time we have been here in recent years but against another div4 team to be beaten so badly is shocking , wexford were desperately unlucky not to be promoted but I reckon they will stroll out of it next year.

As for ourselves we are getting exactly what we deserve, poacher was the man for the job after all he had done in his short time with us he was worth a shot as manager, no way would we have been in this position today if we had given him the job.

It's a real low point for football, we aren't able to currently compete with the worst teams in the country at any grade from minor up

We won't stroll out of div4 next year. Div4 will be the same dogfight it always is. Hard to know what went wrong for you today. You were very poor. You have to sort out some sort of long kickout strategy or you will keep losing your own puckouts. Every team in Ireland knows at this stage that all they have to do is push up hard on your short kickouts and there's no plan B. You need to get Morrissey and the other injured lads back. A local manager who can put the fight back in your players would help also.

Thanks viking, you're very kind. But if you as an outsider can see our problems so clearly what does that say about the ineptitude of our management who have been there for 5 years. Jokeshop.

I thought it was fairly obvious that something wasn't right in the camp. They made a decent start to the league before they fell away in the later rounds. Is that current management in situ fir 5 years ?? I wouldn't have thought so.
I cannot understand how your current manager keeps getting these jobs, his previous record in management ( Sligo, Waterford etc ) wouldn't inspire confidence.

Looking like he's just in it for the travel expenses at this stage so.

Some posters saying it was one of the worst days in recent years, today in my opinion was the worst ever. We weren't beaten by a Dublin, Meath, Kildare or Westmeath, no disrespect but we were hammered by a fellow div 4 team in Wexford. We couldn't do any of the simple things correctly, holding onto the ball, passing, picking up the ball, not pulling the forward to give handy free...we were pitifully. I was never so ashamed & embarrassed for my county. All the time the manager stood on the sideline with his arms folded & no encouragement. He should never have got the job & how he is still there I don't know. He showed a complete lack of respect for Clarke by taking him off with 15 seconds left in the first half. Now I know he was on a yellow but leave it until half time to make the change. Clarke was raging coming off & threw his gloves in disgust... I'm not giving the players a free pass here as they were very poor on the day but the Manager calls the shots & he is useless on the line & I could tell you exactly who will be brought in & at what time. Between today & our underage results for last few years we are very close to becoming the old Kilkenny of Leinster football. Everyone wants to draw us now & it's only a question of how much teams beat us by. Don't like to be negative but can't see a way forward & it's depressing....lowest of the low

Correct. This is not just a senior team issue.

May I ask why there is no accountability for the under age coaching set up, which is clearly failing?

Some development people have been there a long time… where are the results?

The hurlers were hammered last week by Leix.

Should we give that up too.

There are plenty of good footballers in Carlow… the problem is organization .
