Conor Lawlor and Brendan Murphy have committed to the county footballers for 2025, Mullally had mentioned a few new faces to the hurling set up anyone hear who?

Agree. It's like tax and death at this stage.

But ... just maybe he'd be enticed back by the new rules? He'd be a good man to have on the edge on the new 40m arc kicking two-pointers off either foot for fun!

But I won't believe he's back until I see it. Same with Horse. Another fella who might relish the new rules if there's to be more one on one battles.

In both cases id say life has taken over

None of that is true.

Brendan Murphy has ongoing back trouble and will not be playing county.... barely playing club.
Conor Lawlor has retired from both hurling and football county.
He will probably only be a panel member for Pal seniors this year.

Two great servants to Carlow GAA.

If we could get Cyril Hughes, Willie Cullen and Kevin Madden to come back in, we might have a chance at getting promoted. This is Carlow's biggest problem: talented players giving it up too early.

Any challenge games on this weekend.
Football manager came across full of vigour and hope . 39 on panel and open invite to others.
Too early to make any comment or judgement on football team.
Cake is not a stranger to the county so here's wishing him amd the squad good fortune.
Div 4 is wide open with no team as stand out favourites

A panel of 39 but the stahdard apart from starting 15 quality is questionable...... Hopefully some of the more experienced co players can be encouraged back

Carlow won by a few points from what I heard anyway.

I think they're making a huge mistake in Carlow not reverting back to a 10 team Championship. Whether Kildavin, St Patricks etc would pull up any trees in the senior remains to be seen but Clonmore proved last year that they're not a million miles off anyone.

Yet, they're now back down Intermediate after just a year up and I reckon Fenagh will probably be in the same position as they were last year by the end of the Championship.

Exposing these players will only make them better footballers and it would probably entice more young players to stick around than emigrate or pick a different sport.

Looking at the Football Panel named today, its hard to look forward to the D4 league. Very very weak panel. such a pity players didn't commit to the managers first year in charge and give the buy in needed. D4 is wide open, but I won't be holding out much hope now.

A 10-team championship could lead to a lot of dead rubbers and heavy beatings. That will discourage weaker teams even more, knowing they're miles off the top. If anything, we should consider cutting it to 6 teams. Or even down to 4 -with the weaker clubs forming 3 or 4 area teams (a sort of Kerry style system).. That way, players still get exposed to a higher standard of football while keeping the games competitive!

Who do you think should be on panel.
Who is missing in your opinion.
I am sure you have a valid point
Just interested in who you had in mind
I can think of 2 eire og forwards that are a big loss

Apologies one eire og forward Colm Hulton
I see Ross Dunphy is in
I think the first fifteen is capable of winning D4.
But the problem is beyond the that first 15.

Fair play to all who have committed to the footballers. Good spread of clubs which is positive. All the major football clubs have lads in, though there are a few well known names not committing which is disappointing. There are probably a few retirements too, but some returnees who will likely start. Thee may be others who may commit along the way, we will see. Decent enough spine of a team on paper but thin on the bench ?

Best of luck to all.

I'm also struggling to see who else we could have in? The only notable absentees are Hulton and Eric molloy and even he wasn't a starter last year. Foley obviously is retired and Morissey is away after that I'm afraid there's not much else in the county
