2 of our goal chances were 1 on 1 with the keeper and not half chances. Winning the matches is all that counts. You get nothing extra winning by 10 or more points?

I'd say mcGuinness is just happy to get through that today. It's not easy to get to the level they need to be at with the week break and they didn't get to it all and still managed a fairly comfortable win. If down had a little bit more of a forward threat then they could have got really close. Ulsterchamps_32 (Donegal) - Posts: 800 - 27/04/2025 21:27:40 2604782 Link 0 |
In what world are they half chances, and you're saying Down had clear ones but ours weren't because the wrong option was taken (in your view)? Sure aren't Down's only half chances by that notion, your man had Pat Havern waiting for the pass to score into an open net, but he took the "wrong option" and his shot was saved, so was that a half chance? Nonsense Conor O'Donnell should have had a goal first kick of the second half. Daire and Doherty both clean through and the keeper saves. Clear cut goal chances missed. Plenty to work on and Armagh will be favourites, but you're going OTT on today CCFabu (Donegal) - Posts: 155 - 27/04/2025 22:52:41 2604819 Link 0 |
And the player took the wrong option. Shooting when the keeper is basically on top of them instead of working an angle or taking an easy point or a pass.

Second gear in a big game is not a good idea. We were in second gear the entire second half last weekend too. Im hope I'm wrong and our best performance of the year is in two weeks time all the same! eddieSize5Balls (Donegal) - Posts: 123 - 28/04/2025 00:09:00 2604843 Link 0 |
It was a strange kind of game yesterday I thought. Down were obviously sent out to take the sting out of the game and try to frustrate us. It worked to an extent for the first 15 minutes or so. But I always felt that when Donegal upped the ante then Down would struggle to contain us. We then found ourselves six or seven points up without ever having looked all that wild impressive in doing so. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9734 - 28/04/2025 09:31:57 2604882 Link 0 |
Everyone knows who got patton back playing gaa. And it's nobody from St eunans. Patton is donegals most important player. Alot of comment about the game yesterday. We were poor no sugar coating it . People on about playing in second gear. Rubbish Hopefully it's only a blib but there are a few worrying signs. Maybe it's a good thing to dampen the talk of being all Ireland favourites. One thing I know is that we're still too open in defence. Can we win ulster of course we can . Hopefully yesterday was one of them days rorysboys (Donegal) - Posts: 2607 - 28/04/2025 10:57:29 2604912 Link 0 |
Ah lad, yes we were sloppy yesterday, and I agree with you completely that we need to tighten up and lift things considerably. But there was no way that Donegal team was at full tilt yesterday. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9734 - 28/04/2025 11:26:42 2604931 Link 0 |
No idea what game you were watching Gallen was far from poor, movement excellent and created scores and also 2 goal chances. It was notable that the team lost shape when him and Murphy went off.

On Gallen I just think he needs to get the fire back in the belly a wee bit. There was a chance in the second half yesterday where he turned down a shot opportunity and laid it off, whereas last year he would have just lamped it over the bar without even thinking. I'm hopeful a couple of good early scores against Armagh in a big match will get the juices flowing for him again. He's too good not to make a return to form soon.
