Watching from afar via TG4 I was pleased with the performance shown at the weekend given the team selection. As already alluded to Murphy, Jamie Brennan, Big Hugh and Mark Curran had decent games. Actually Mark Curran is developing into a really top level inter county player who might not even make the starting 15. Good also to see McFadden Ferry get a good run out. Another serious option to have when he gets back to full fitness. Special mention to Finbar Roarty. This lad is a generational talent in my opinion and he'll be a cheat code at under 20 level. Hopefully the under twenties will have a decent run at it. However it's going to be very difficult as per with strong squads in Tyrone, Derry and maybe Armagh.

On another note Saint Pats done as I'm sure many expected by winning the Hogan Cup pretty easily over the weekend. Highlights the amazing journey the Abbey went on by winning the intermediate schools competition and pushing Pats in the Ulster final.

Not from the iniskeel parish, just don't like people belittling players who put in huge efforts.. gave the lad a chance it's the least he deserves.

I mentioned another player not from my parish that gets lots of abuse in my original post. I hate individual players getting abuse regardless of where they are from. All players do the same training putting in the same effort and giving the same commitment.

Just seen Roarty is suspended for the first 2 games of the u20 championship, luckily those are the games against Fermanagh and Antrim which you'd imagine we'd win without him. Is the suspension related to the age fiasco last year or whats the story with it?

I think mcGuinness would be happy at the weekend. They weren't blessed with traditional man making players and have got time into McFadden ferry. He's a good player to tag a quality opposition player.

Roarty is progressing though he'll have to learn from turning the ball over in contact the few times.
Mcolgan also got time and guess they were minding him a little by taking him off. That two point kick he took and ability he has to do that could be a very valuable commodity later in the year.
Moore made a big difference off the bench and if players remain fit there is some strength of depth to impact the game off the bench. And fair play to Jamie Brennan. It was not a good day at the office against Derry and I thought that might be that a little bit. He showed real conviction though in the match on Sunday scoring some very fine points and covering back very well. He has to take a lot of confidence from it.

And it's good for other squad players to get some time. No team can function properly if they don't have a full squad each night at training helping to drive it on. And often they see no game time for all their efforts
