Fully expected this to be a difficult game, Louth have made life difficult for any side they faced so far. However I felt we made harder work of this game than was necessary, a lot of unforced errors and poor decision making didn't help.

Hopefully the Brendan McCole toe injury isn't too serious, and great to hear that Jason McGee is finally back training. I think we need Michael Langan in a more advanced position for longer, maybe when some of the others come back we might see more of him there.

Anyone else making the trek to Carlow for the Kildare game on Paddy's weekend? I'm going for the long weekend, not sure what to expect from Kildare. They looked lively against Cork at times, but I suppose the question is how much have Cork improved since we played them in Ballybofey. If we win, we're promoted and unfortunately Kildare are relegated.

Going to go for the spin, another one for the bucketlist. Carlow is not a place I ever thought I would attend for a football match. Although I do recall us playing Carlow in the National League in Ballyshannon in 2004. I've only a couple left, Waterford, Wexford and Kilkenny I think. And although Wexford could be a possibility, I sincerely hope we never have to play against Kilkenny or Waterford in my lifetime.

I was in short trousers in 1993, can't remember if it was communion or confirmation.

Good to be young .them days are long gone for me. Il follow donegal as long as I'm able. It's what makes me happy and maybe that's why I don't understand people not supporting their county. I remember staying in a little hotel outside Carlow with 3 friends who have sadly passed to there eternal reward. 3 fantastic donegal men. We were given a guard of honour next day sorry not us the team were. We win well. Expecting a better performance the next day. Mc brearty scoring heavily but it's mostly free kicks so teams will know this and frees will be scarcer against the better teams. A wee word on Louth there well organised a team that's hard to beat. One more thing I see mc Guinness has drafted in young gallagher from downings and Broderick from killybegs is there any word of anyone leaving the squad no sign of Charlie mc Guinness yet. Was surprised Kevin mc gettigan didn't get a run with so many defenders out, doesn't look good for him now. Curran seems to be the man in possession.

Why do Donegal never give our u20s the best chance of being successful. They're starting their campaign without 2 of their best players who are sitting on the bench for the senior team. Surely these players would be better getting competitive games.

oh yea 1993, that was the year of mix ability groups, the two top teams in each group ended up in division one the follow year, the second and third ended up in Division two etc. Some novel games Carlow as mentioned and Longford I recall as well. Some road tips, great following too, as we were All Ireland Champs.

Bit of a stupid comparison. Jim played for the club/parish he grew up in.

Moore was born and lives in Milford parish. Went to secondary school in Milford.

Don't have much of an issue with it to be honest, but if you're going to attack other clubs for taking players from outside their parishes, maybe take a look at your own.

Great post.

"The Messiah" hasn't played much since he played in the Naomh Conaill County Final triumph against St Eunans in 2005.

I'd be happy enough with the way Paddy is playing at the minute, he's performing a different role. He scored one fantastic point against Armagh, the one where he ran straight from deep. Moments like that will give opponents something else to think about and give our attack another dimension.

Actually I realised today I haven't been to a game in Limerick either. And from 1993, I remember going on a bus run by the club to the first National League game against Derry, the new All Ireland Champions. It was in Casement Park, and it was the day after the Shankill Bomb. I remember that experience well. Different times!

It was 1992. Beaten 2-6 to 1-6, the only game Donegal lost that year. A certain P Brogan was midfield that day.

And later that same year he came on as a late sub for Mayo against Donegal in the All Ireland Semi Final.

Agree on making hard work of it - how many goal chances did we make a mess of in the first half.?

The amount of sloppy turnovers - we could have been 8/9 points up easily at HT.

We are defo motoring nicely going forward - there has been so many personnel changes in the back 6 all year which has never had a settled look about it which is a worry - not many natural defenders started the game on Sunday..

Jason Mc Gee won't b returning to full training for another week according to the messiah.

Did u manage to get accommodation for the long weekend as I can't get anywhere near hand for the game either sat or sun night ?

I never mentioned anything about taking players from outside parishes - maybe slow down a little reading the posts or give them a second glance before getting fired up.

I'll educate you on that one as your prob too young to remember or have only recently jumped on the glenties/fintown bandwagon.

The messiah didn't start the county final - he was coaching the team due to a bad knee injury - they threw him on for 5 mins at the end as a token gesture when the game was over - nearly backfired when Conal Dunne kicked a late goal to bring to a nervy conclusion.

Think the messiah last club game - may be wrong - was in the 2009 county final where we thumped glenties/Fintown by double scores if my memory serves me well.
