Won't make any different anyway as both Ballymore and Killoe will win very easily. Abbeylara deserve respect after winning the B championship but they won't be a match for neighbours Ballymore and Legan who were junior champions 2 years ago have haemorrhaged nearly 10 of that starting team so they won't lay a glove on Killoe. Should be a good final between killoe and Ballymore. williesboy (Leitrim) - Posts: 418 - 25/09/2023 13:25:00 2505612 Link 0 |
Mullinalagtha through and through. I have admiration for Killoe for the way they keep churning out teams at all levels despite people trying to hamstring them. Slashers are of no revelance to me. They come along every 15 or 20 years and win a couple of championships and disappear again.

Going with a Killoe and Clonguish final, with both games being very close! Garmin (Longford) - Posts: 96 - 26/09/2023 12:31:02 2505807 Link 0 |
Very toxic around here lately. Anyway Killoe to beat Colmcille. Dromard to beat Clonguish in extra time. Rorty (Longford) - Posts: 12 - 26/09/2023 17:20:32 2505884 Link 0 |
The levels of toxicity on this forum are crazy, I only assume the same people exuding this toxicity are the ones at matches that are frothing at the mouth and going mental over everything. Angry, bitter people. (I think it contributes to why we are so divisive at county level and cannot all put the shoulder to the wheel together). It is sport, a hobby, entertainment, a pastime, whatever you want to call it. It is not personal if a team beat another team, it is just a result of what both teams had set out to do. It is not life threatening or life altering to enjoy sport or to acknowledge good teams other than your own. I support Ireland in the rugby, but I enjoyed watching England in the mid 2000's because they were a brilliant team to watch. It is nice when our team win, but why are people so bitter when others win (and when others lose). You can be disappointed, but for God's sake get over it, move on, it's sport. There will be more. Slashers, Killoe and Mullinalaghta all fell off their perch in the last decade. Others will get up there too and fall off too. Its why we follow sport. As for results this weekend, I think there may be an all North Longford final. Colmcille are in better form than Killoe at the minute, although that can change from week to week. They seem to be more settled now regarding injuries than Killoe too. Clonguish will breakthrough, maybe not this year, the youngsters will have a few inconsistent days before the do eventually become the team to catch. I think Dromard might just have a couple of big games to surprise everyone. Hopefully, (as a Killoe man) I am wrong, but that is what I can see at the moment. botheyesclosed (Longford) - Posts: 119 - 27/09/2023 10:45:25 2505962 Link 0 |
As a local Killoe man you would have the inside track is there anything in the rumours that Larry and Paddy Moran are starting together at the weekend?

I think they are unlikely to start and possibly both still out injured. Paddy might be closer to a return though. All this is second hand information as I haven't seen them train lately.

Hopefully get 2 good games at the weekend. Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1326 - 27/09/2023 16:09:45 2506017 Link 0 |
What has betting got to do with it? I agree that Killoe have too much and will win it out but not because of that. For what it's worth I think Killoe will win by 5+ and we will scrape through. I am not convinced about the growing confidence in Colmcille. Beating a dreadful Granard team and drawing with a jaded Mullinalaghta have been the highlights of their very poor year!

I think Dromard will blow Clonguish out of the water. Clonguish are plucky team but they can't rely on Paul Barden forever. Dromards experience and fight will see them past young Clonguish. Leitrimforliam (Leitrim) - Posts: 325 - 27/09/2023 17:19:39 2506032 Link 0 |
Why are you bringing up betting? I didn't mention anything in my previous message about betting. Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1326 - 28/09/2023 11:45:39 2506095 Link 0 |
Exactly!!! Too much reliance on Paul Barden...... Paddy Dowd will need to step up although Cathal Conefrey won't make it easy for him.

Didn't realise paul barden was still playing

Conefrey will probably do a good job on Paddy Dowd, but that will leave lots of opportunities for Enda Barden to win ball at full forward and pass it off to Pat Burke to have a field day. The Jones brothers will have to match Conefrey to keep those 3 lads quiet. At the other end of the field Seamus Flynn and Brendan Barden will have to be on their game to keep Sean Hagan, Enda Macken and a young player who I think will play for Dromard for next 20 years in Jamesie Martin quiet. Should be a good game if the weather holds up. Frank74 (Longford) - Posts: 187 - 28/09/2023 18:14:27 2506154 Link 0 |
Sorry Spinx I misread your message. I don't think the money being put into a high profile manager has anything to do with whether or not Killoe will win. They had one before and did not see it through. Killoe will win out the championship by virtue of being the best team remaining sadly

What are you harping on about Paddy Dowd and the rest of them are retired. I wish the admins would block this spam BS

All I meant was, with the huge sums of money been pumped into the management and the training/recovery team nothing but a Championship is required by Killoe folk. Huge pressure for the players to deal with for a club team. Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1326 - 29/09/2023 11:57:24 2506229 Link 0 |
It just shows you know nothing about Longford club football!!

As predicted a very easy win for the powerful champions-elect who were worth more than twice the margin in the end. A limp effort from a very poor Colmcille outfit. Tomorrow should at least be more entertaining but I fear it's a battle for silver
