Not sure i agree fully with you here. I do agree that Moran and Wrynn have a lot more experience in terms of county but to say Moran or Wrynn have great footballing ability is a bit of a stretch. Wrynn is a good free taker and has stepped up his game in the last couple of years alright, but before that he had done nothing for the county. Moran has been a good stalwart for Leitrim but has never lit it up for Leitrim. He always held onto the ball for too long and i think he has had his day. Time to freshen things up with younger blood. Hoare has improved massively in fitness and moving the ball quicker in the last year and hopefully he keeps going in the same direction. I think Andy Moran is really improving these younger players.

Bruen isn't a huge loss, and I was surprised he was captain last year. I'd be more worried if Casey wasn't available. Rooney is a loss but blows very hot and cold for Leitrim.

Mabe hold off judgement on till the young lad gets a chance to prove himself at county level if he wishes to play it Thejampot (Leitrim) - Posts: 351 - 25/10/2022 21:22:09 2445448 Link 2 |
You weren't at the senior semi final leitrim Gaels v Mohil he was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch.

Just to point out I am reacting to this heresay as a reality. If true it would be very disappointing to hear as turnover of players is the biggest difficulty for division four teams. And six players is a loss to any panel especially in regards to continuity from a tactical and S&C pint of view. But it is understandable that any young man would find the commitment to intercounty football a lot to take on. I think Rooney would be the biggest loss as he has the Potential to be devastating. McGovern is strong and versatile and an experienced panel member. Breun would be very surprising after being chosen captain last year. With our lack of depth at the back I am sure it is very disappointing panel and management. The three Aughnasheelin lads? The Cullens I thought got decent enough opportunity. Know very little about Hoare but probably the easiest replaced.

There is going to be huge numbers of young lads going to Australia over the next few years. It has became so cheap an accessible to reach oz since the end of the pandemic many will be enticed to leave our shores especially with the current economic situation here. Apparently Ballinamore are set to lose the McGovern brothers to Australia which would be a huge loss. If this trend continues I believe future Leitrim Senior Championships could be won based on who can can keep their lads home. southleitrim_mafia (Leitrim) - Posts: 114 - 26/10/2022 12:02:00 2445496 Link 0 |

I have to agree some of his fielding on the day was outrageous from kickouts. You really see the quality of some of these players when you see them playing club football.

With the All-stars being announced today I've decided to do senior and intermediate club teams of the year. Let me know what you think? TaytoFoley (Leitrim) - Posts: 84 - 27/10/2022 14:51:27 2445682 Link 2 |
Niall Gallagher over Cillian Cullen real hard working player might not have the skill of others but incredible heart and spirit

Not a dicky bird about the Cloone vs Carrigallen Junior A semifinal in the Leitrim Observer, not even in the results. The only mention of it is in the local notes of both clubs. Was anyone at it? What kind of game was it? Tacaí Liatroma (Leitrim) - Posts: 1126 - 28/10/2022 07:50:17 2445737 Link 0 |
I was gonna ask about that, v strange when they had a section on the quarter finals, guess with all the finals on they didn't have the resources to have media personnel at every game but still a disrespect to the competition and the players that take it serious

I played from 1997 to 2014 and the coverage in the observer was for the most part non existent. In fairness it has improved in recent years.

It's a disgrace. Not a mention, not even in the results, where you'll find the likes of an U-9 game that ended 9-12 to 0-0, for example. Two proud teams trying to get back to Intermediate, with one of them qualifying for Connacht cos of the result, don't deserve a mention.

Sorry for the silly question if people view it as that but : leitrim4sam (Leitrim) - Posts: 674 - 29/10/2022 19:49:06 2445906 Link 0 |
The winner of the St Mary's vs Carrigallen final will get promoted, Mohill are getting relegatd, that's my belief. Now, my understanding is that if Annaduff had beaten St Mary's and then beaten Carrigallen, then because Annaduff already have a team in Intermediate, then their Junior champions couldn't go up and Mohill's intermediate team would avoid relegation. What I'm interested in is what if, say, Mohill got relegated from Senior and also their Intermediate team won the Intermediate championship. My belief is that the Seniors' relegation to Intermediate would force the Intermediates down to Junior... but then who'd get promoted from Intermediate to replace the relegated team? Or would the senior team's relegation and the intermediate teams would-be promotion cancel each other out? Tacaí Liatroma (Leitrim) - Posts: 1126 - 29/10/2022 21:11:50 2445913 Link 0 |
No report anywhere for the junior semi yet but from Final Whistle it looks like it was close til Annaduff had a black card and they didn't score after that

We are not overly blessed with good mid fielders in Leitrim so Hoare cant do much worse than what's already there.

Does anyone think the four week gap between Cloone's last group game and their semifinal against Carrigallen might have worked against them? (Although I'm aware the gap for Carrigallen was only three weeks between their quarterfinal and the Cloone game.) Tacaí Liatroma (Leitrim) - Posts: 1126 - 31/10/2022 21:41:44 2446078 Link 0 |
its not enough to just be a big man standing around the middle of the park pluckin ball. He needs to be a superb athlete to cover the ground at county level
