It was actually the Aughnasheelin club that put the open draw forward to the County Board.

What's people's views on James Glancy leaving the Leitrim set up to join Paddy Christie in Longford. Big loss to us in my opinion, seems a strange move to me but maybe there reasons behind it? JimmyNail (Leitrim) - Posts: 258 - 27/08/2022 21:53:37 2438855 Link 0 |
Glancy was the GPO in Ballymun for years so him and Christie would be well acquainted with each other. I'm not sure of the value of outside selectors unless they're going to be round the county watching games. Big ask of Glancy and Sloyan to do that. Anyhow it doesn't look good given he's prepared to work with a county further away that he wouldn't have any great knowledge off and particularly with Solan not coming out and stating if he's committed to Leitrim having missed out on the Mayo job. You have to wonder if Solan has his eye on the Roscommon job as there's no outstanding candidates being mentioned for that job yet. It's interesting to note that Christie & Sloyan were part of the Shaw ticket for the Mayo job so Solan to Roscommon would not surprise me in the slightest. I worry about Leitrim's prospects for 2023.

Oh let him off. Has shown zero loyalty to us here. So better off without. Why would you say hes a major loss to us?? What has he actually achieved as a coach? Its not as if he is donie Buckley or paddy tally.

I was very surprised at this. Although James I believe has worked with paddy in Dublin so they know each other well. Maybe he is getting a bigger role with Longford e.g main coach. I'd say he is a loss to leitrim but both Andy and Mike took the coaching last year from what I heard and listened to on interviews so he will be easily enough replaced from that point of view. Big decisions for Moran now on who to replace both Mike solan and James Glancy with. Maybe solan will come back and I hope he does but I will suggest a couple of names from leitrim who could potentially fill that void left by Glancy. 1. Shane ward 2. Joe Flynn 3. Ray McBrien 4. Micheal McGuiness 5. Pauric Davis 6. Ryan Jones if not still playing with Fermanagh Champotime18 (Leitrim) - Posts: 442 - 28/08/2022 09:24:14 2438866 Link 0 |
I'd assume Glancy left as he mustn't have felt he had as much input as he'd have liked? I'd assume his replacement will come from North Leitrim someone like Colm Clarke would be ideal. One thing g I'd notice about games I've watched over the last few weekends has been the tactical fouling? Refs letting lads get away with it it needs stamping down on, Weaternpro (Leitrim) - Posts: 64 - 28/08/2022 10:36:06 2438870 Link 0 |
I can't imagine Davis would be interested. The time to get him was when he went and wanted the job, but it went to Hyland at the time. Would def be a great man to have but he might prefer been the head man.

Joe Flynn was over Fenagh. I wasn't impressed with some of the stories I heard about him tbh.

A similar system has been used in Cavan for many years, think the idea originally came from Longford but not 100% sure on that. As a neutral with relations involved with Leitrim Gaels how would you rate their chances this year? drumalee11 (USA) - Posts: 331 - 28/08/2022 19:49:44 2438936 Link 0 |
I agree with the tactical fouling I saw Fenagh in a league game and they used it every time the opposition counterattacked then Fenagh would get bodies behind the ball once they slowed the free down. Nothing really you can do to counteract it so although its hard to watch teams aren't really breaking any rules by doing it.

With the final round this weekend what are everyone's predictions for who'll make the quarter finals/ semi finals southleitrim_mafia (Leitrim) - Posts: 120 - 31/08/2022 09:53:13 2439219 Link 0 |
A weeks break this week in senior Fenagh & Leitrim Geals will be the top 2 1/4 finals will be SOH, Mary's, Mohil and Aughwillian Bottom 4 will be Dromahair, melvin geals, gortletteragh, manor. Champotime18 (Leitrim) - Posts: 442 - 31/08/2022 12:07:56 2439239 Link 0 |
The mohill vs aughawillan and gortletteragh vs st marys seem to be the two pivotal games. Stranger things have happened then gortletteragh beating st marys and if that happens and mohill lose or draw to aughawillan then that would see gortletteragh advancing and sending mohill to relegation.

Can't see Gort getting even close to Marys

The only potential banana skin I could see would be Glencar pulling off a win v B'more (as unlikely as it sounds). Lets say Glencar win their game and Aughawillan get bet well, who goes through? Square_B (Leitrim) - Posts: 1072 - 31/08/2022 21:17:21 2439265 Link 0 |
Points difference if teams are tied on the same points
