Outsiders, but in fairness it is Andy's third year now so he'll know a lot of the players who can make the grade. Wasn't MG not with Ballinamore so again, I'm sure players from different clubs caught his eye over the Summer months. They're not completely starting from scratch. Andy Moran is from Mayo and Micky Graham is from Cavan. So yes they are outsiders to Leitrim football. MG was with Ballinamore for 5 games and I can't imagine Andy Moran was at many intermediate/junior games so I don't think they would know who all the best young players around the county are. Brendan Guckian was from the county and he missed out on loads of talented players in the county by not holding trials. Just stating they are missung out by not holding trials.

Would be interested in where are the "loads of talented players " that are not on county squads. I have attended and live-streamed the majority of club championship games across all grades and in fairness to Moran,Guckian and Foley I don't think there are too many players that have slipped through the net. Regardless, what is the reason for not holding a trial? It's the fairest way of picking a panel and there can be no complaints that players good enough will go unnoticed. I think what's going on with u20 is quite poor

Good effort by both Leitrim clubs in the Connacht club today. Mohil maybe a little unlucky as they had a couple of chances near the end. I would think Sean Harkin has to get a chance with Andy Moran. He marked Ben O'Carroll very well today. It might free up Mark Diffley to maybe play at Nunber 6 as I don't believe full back is his best position. Today in Hyde park reminded me of the last time Mohill played in Castlebar, a few thing's went against them that cost them, the black card against Domhnail Flynn(unfairly in my opinion) was the difference,Mohill had to defend in the last ten minutes of the first half instead of trying to get scores on the board. Well done Mohill. They certainly were in the game all through and the goal made the difference. Yes,I agree Leitrim Club football not as poor as we think. Huge efforts are being made to improve football at all levels in the county. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that the senior and u20 county panels have been doing gym work for weeks .This shows commitment without any expenses. I thought they dealt quite well going a man down they outscored St Brigids 2 points to 1 in that ten minutes. I concede though that possibly they could have stretched their lead more before half time if Flynn had not been sent off. They missed quite a few chances in the second half that cost them. Speaking to most people from Mohill there was great confusion as to why Jordan Reynolds was taking the 45's/long distance frees and not Beirne. Conor Quinn was excellent in the middle.

Everyone is going to disagree on a squad's best panel I admit that. But I think we can all agree that trial game's would have been the fairest and most open process. I still have heard of players on this squad who have no business of being there. Lad's that aren't even making their club's second teams and are only still there because of the clubs they are attached to and because they've been on academy panel's since they were 14.

id say "Lad's that aren't even making their club's second teams" is reaching a bit. but accept there are lads on the panel that probably would not get near a bigger county's panel but we have to work with who we have but also who is willing/able to commit. Could we possibly do more to stop them leaving? I know it isn't the GAA's fault that many of the young people in our country are emigrating. But possibly could we as a county incentivize our players to not emigrate. Something like what Tyrone did with Cathal McShane.

I'm not going to name a lad as I believe that is wrong. Your from Sligo so I don't expect you to know who is in training with the u20's. I myself know who is in training. There are three players from two big town clubs that are in training. I know two of these player's personally and they weren't guaranteed starters on their clubs second teams last year.
