If rumours are to believed two of those 3 latter names are to be interviewed by the selection committee next week.

Agreed. Won't be surprised if 1 or two games needs extra time to separate them this weekend. I'm going to side with Brigids, Roscommon Gaels, Dominics, Croans, Ronans and Pearses B in the 6 semi finals The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 3938 - 06/10/2022 16:02:55 2443017 Link 0 |

Would absolutely take him but would Cian O'Neill leave Galway? Ros13 (Roscommon) - Posts: 116 - 06/10/2022 16:55:18 2443032 Link 0 |
Hardly after Galway getting to the All Ireland Final this year and Joyce has got a new 3 year term to go one better so O'Neill will likely be part of that. I saw on another gaa website that FOD, Nigel Dineen, Pat Flanagan and James McCartan of Down will be interviewed. Don't know if that's the case.

Think match of weekend will be Dominics v Feurty and I'd give a hesitant nod to Doms AET just on account of the hurt of losing the last two finals. Anything else will see their manager and team start to break up to a degree. SmokieRoss (Roscommon) - Posts: 279 - 06/10/2022 19:49:04 2443045 Link 0 |
I'd hazard a guess on the 2 being Burke and O'Brien. O'Neill seems to be more a no.2 type. As for Sunday wouldn't it be great if Boyle and Strokers get to the Final? Would be a breath of fresh air from the usual big 3. Sadly I expect Brids and Gaels to qualify. Seanfanbocht (Roscommon) - Posts: 2054 - 06/10/2022 19:54:25 2443047 Link 0 |
I actually heard the opposite! That O'Neill was taking a year out

Any word on any players that are available or unavailable for next year? honda15 (Longford) - Posts: 94 - 07/10/2022 08:58:34 2443064 Link 0 |
Mumblings that he wasn't staying on with Galway. Could be complete rumour but that's why I included his name with other two above,

I really can't see him ever being involved in Roscommon. He certainly wouldn't have much love for us! And Andy has already said that he's back with him again this year. It's becoming a real issue at this stage. Obviously whoever gets the job now is far from 1st choice candidate, as they would have been appointed weeks ago if they were. I hope whoever it is gets the full backing of the players and is able to keep them together to give him a chance D.Hyde (Roscommon) - Posts: 224 - 07/10/2022 11:53:40 2443091 Link 0 |
So many rumours now it's impossible to know what's true. I've heard from a couple of people that Dineen was approached. Also heard James McCartans name which seems a strange one. MachaireConnacht (Roscommon) - Posts: 1000 - 07/10/2022 13:17:29 2443098 Link 0 |
CB appear to have made a complete hash of this. It looks like they are waiting for Club teams from other counties to be knocked out of championship before interviewing potential managers. All good and well but our own Championship is now coming to an end and potential players will not be seen again until next year. Don't be surprised to see a Garda as next manager. Its becoming an unhealthy situation in CB where it is made up of Garda and School Masters. How many more CB's around the country have the same makeup?

I would say a manager is in place but that manager is involved with a club who are still involved in the championship and no announcement will be made until the club has exited the championship. I could be wrong but I have a feeling that is the current position. Jellybaby (Dublin) - Posts: 358 - 07/10/2022 14:15:21 2443116 Link 0 |
I wouldn't think so. Especially after the CB Chairman said he'd hope that interviews would hopefully start soon.

We haven't got to interview stage yet to have one in place.

Brigids to win v Boyle. The Kiltoom men possess too much for Boyle who have too often came a cropped at semi final stage. If there is ever a time for Boyle it's now. But I still fancy Brigids I this one. Ros Gaels were impressive for a finish second half v Pearses but personally i fancy Strokestown to win this in a close tense encounter. It promises to be a good game so let's hope weather remains good. I think Croans who are making progress will have enough for Eire Og who were lucky to win v Brigids B. I think this should be close but the Ballintubber outfit should have a few points to spare to book a ticket for the final. The game between Fuerty and St Dominics is being billed as game of the weekend. Often this goes awry and actually turns out to be the worse game of the lot. I think it may work out that way. Doms easily here for me. I think they'll have way too many aces for the Fuerty team. moros (Roscommon) - Posts: 1110 - 07/10/2022 18:00:55 2443150 Link 0 |
Interviews? That is only a box-ticking exercise, it's sorted. Jellybaby (Dublin) - Posts: 358 - 07/10/2022 18:07:54 2443151 Link 0 |
I see they charging E15 tomorrow for entry. Surely a tenner was enough. Charging E15 to students a disgrace. Last Sunday in the Hyde I had a 16 and 17 year old with me and the gate men insisted on a ticket for both. rosco7 (Roscommon) - Posts: 48 - 08/10/2022 10:23:17 2443170 Link 0 |
