All well and good and many saying we could have won it but how did we not deny them space on their kick out second half out on the terrace side especially. Even after the Carey two point which was well worked and executed we totally turned off for the Tyrone kick out and gave them a free play for their last point. There in are the margins at the top level. Was any one not clued in on or off field? And improbably going to get lambasted for this piece of criticism! moros (Roscommon) - Posts: 1412 - 24/05/2026 19:48:50 2675133 Link 1 |

He and anyone else calling for change got their answer no doubt. Two changes that ended up being 4 or 5 positional switches that left Roscommon needed the whole 1st half to adjust. Defensively was the biggest issue 1st half as promising whereby issues started with forward moves breaking down from unforced errors and Tyrone scoring on the turnovers. The two pointer right before half time with Roscommom on the attack cheaply losing possession proved costly in a one point defeat. 2nd half Roscommon much better Defensively and if hadcwon it would be thanks to that but that was an awful gift of a goal to Tyrone when the score was 2-15 to 2-13. It was the break Tyrone needed and used all their experience to hang on for a one point win after that. Roscommon still weren't never their best today and I suppose it shows how much they have improved as in the past Roscommon not at their best would lose by a far bigger margin to Tyrone Gaa_lover (USA) - Posts: 3968 - 24/05/2026 19:51:15 2675135 Link 0 |

Yes you're right. I think we can get Mayo if they lose because we didn't meet them in a provincial final. The format changes so often it's hard to keep up.

Tyrone were the sharper team tiday they were more assured on the ball. Roscommon played ok and kept in touch but were chasing the game. The two pointer conceeded before half time was a crucial acore. Roscommon dug deep and edged in front after endas goal and diarmuids score. Carrolls kick out was unfortunate there was a roscommon defender wide open in the centre and carroll didnt see him quickly enough a few shouts went to carroll and he rushed his kick and the goal came. Has to be said conor carroll made a few top class saves and was just unfortunate with his timing. Morgan hit 4 or 5 kicks outs late on to the exact same place on the right sideline. I think it was kilpatrick caught it not sure what roscommon pkayer was nearest but it wasnt a midfielder. It should have been picked up on that the same kick out was their out ball. Great two pointer from paul carey but it happened too early roughly 68.12 i think just giving tyrone the last opportunity. Roscommon have achieved alot this year so its not all doom and gloom hopefully a kinder draw for next round Charliepace (Donegal) - Posts: 41 - 24/05/2026 21:06:00 2675163 Link 0 |

Thought Tyrone's experience was telling Also their very strong at 8 and 9 Kilpatrick was massive for them Fair dues to the lads tho we're not far off stupid mistakes ultimately cost us - frustrating but we're close take that defeat on the chin and move on rossy15 (Roscommon) - Posts: 682 - 24/05/2026 21:18:29 2675166 Link 0 |

Does a bigger margin matter or not if it's Clare Kildare cork twice Tyrone now, we struggle with division 2 teams after doing well in the first half of the year if it's staying up or promotion Like it's not all doom and gloom but we seen this story a million times and need a reaction badly Our first Connacht treble is a brilliant story but losing two knockout championship games would really put a damper on the year Shame despite our form and Tyrone's and Dublins we stuggle against our boogie teams as we usually do Gavlar (Roscommon) - Posts: 19 - 24/05/2026 22:15:58 2675189 Link 0 |
