A genuine a supporter is someone who supports the team when they need it most. Some of the players are in final year in college and have given up valuable study time to travel, train and play with Roscommon. Others have partners, children who have not seen too much of them for several months. letsgetgoing (Roscommon) - Posts: 748 - 26/05/2025 15:19:13 2612788 Link 5 |
There was barely 5000 in Navan for the Cork game after having 25-30,000 in Croker for the Leinster final. I doubt Meath will bring big support to Hyde Park, I could be wrong.

Official attendance Was 9000 in Navan against Cork, I'm guessing we'll bring about 4000 to the Hyde, looking forward to it, big game for both Meath and Roscommon, Meath by 2.

If that happens let nobody go on here giving out. Least we can do is travel into town to shout them On. I dropped into The Hyde during the week. Great working going on and have new a security fence separating the old training ground. The main pitch is scorched so should be just ready for the weekend. With the rain.when you're on the main pitch looking up to the new seats we've actually a lovely stadium. Ros2013 (Roscommon) - Posts: 538 - 26/05/2025 17:45:56 2612844 Link 1 |
Definitely. Nows the time for getting behind them. Out of interest what is the max capacity now with the work that has been completed the past few years? FullOfPorter (Roscommon) - Posts: 146 - 26/05/2025 23:46:59 2612913 Link 0 |
Was definitely closer to 8/9k, that 5k figure was based on tickets solid by Thursday/Friday. A lot of people would have bought them on the day. Stand was full, and the terrace was fairly packed, don't think you'd squeeze too many more in to be honest. Plus conditions were dreadful too so that doesn't attract people. Meath generally travel fairly well too, would expect a few thousand on Saturday, the trip isn't too far, and it's not on TV. Huge game for both teams. A win for Meath all but guarantees a home preliminarily quarter final and a free crack at Kerry, a win for Roscommon and they're right back in it and will fancy themselves against Cork. Of course Cork can blow the whole thing one by beating Kerry.. hyperache (Meath) - Posts: 273 - 26/05/2025 23:50:28 2612914 Link 0 |
As far as I recall last year after the new seats went in it was 23,500 - 9,500 seated 8,000 big Terrace 3,000 behind each of the goals. Analyser might have a more up-to-date date figure? If we don't finish 2nd in the Group Saturday will be the last home inter County fixture till next Jan/Feb. Pitch is being closed in July for some maintenance works. More or less that figure. Capacity is reduced to about 21,500 with unreserved seating games same with every other ground in the country due to health and safety report. Long gone are the days that lads use to sit on the roof of the stand to watch games.

H&S gone mad though. Hyde could probably fit in a few thousand more if required. MacHale Park official is 28,000 but I remember over 35,000 there and that was before the new stand was put up. Good to see Hyde getting improvements though, great place to watch a game so well done to all.

We had around 31,000 at the Gerry Lohan final and that was before the Stand was built. Don't know how many were able to see the game. Loads of youngsters had to sit along the end lines, which isn't ideal to say the least. I'd imagine insurance would be driving the H&S limits. Also no of turnstiles, ease of exit in an emergency and all of that. Seanfanbocht (Roscommon) - Posts: 2365 - 27/05/2025 16:49:39 2613102 Link 0 |

Is the clubhouse in Hyde Park still open beside the stadium? dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 834 - 27/05/2025 21:30:11 2613156 Link 0 |
Huge game at the weekend - not season defining but would definitely ease some pressure off the Cork game. Meath are a physical team with some good forwards but can be got at defensively (very similar to ourselves in a way). We havet won a championship game in the Hyde since 2023 v Sligo so hopefully this will change and we get huge numbers in the Hyde for the game. Wouldn't we all! While defeat won't be the end of the road it would signify that it'll be a short road. I think apprehension would sum up feelings at this stage... can we deliver a good performance or will it be more of the same oul watery passive stuff we've been at since mid March. Well find out in the first 10 minutes no doubt. Seanfanbocht (Roscommon) - Posts: 2365 - 28/05/2025 12:49:13 2613231 Link 0 |
It's not technically season defining but this is a must win game in a lot of ways, team morale, supporters, some sort of signs of progress. Yes we have been defending poorly as a unit but losing the midfield battle has given Kerry and Galway the platform to put us seriously under the cosh. Management need to have a plan for that, players need to bring serious intensity as that is something Meath have brought to their games. When we do get chances we need to be taking them as well. Hopefully Doyle and Nolan will be our midfield pairing. I'd have Cunnane and Ruane in that middle 8 as well. I think Ruane is a great worker and is physical. I think Enda would actually benefit from a roll as an impact sub and take some of the pressure off him for a while. Look at what Stefan Campbell brings to Armagh. I think Enda coming on in the second half, bringing physicality and direct running with fresh legs would be a huge plus. He's a marked man from the start of these games to date and looks like he runs out of steam. FullOfPorter (Roscommon) - Posts: 146 - 28/05/2025 13:30:12 2613239 Link 0 |
Id definitely consider enda being an impact sub Saturday. He's not in form and as you said if he's coming in with 25 mins to go he could spark us into a big last quarter which we will need Saturday. Going to be a tough game with meath in decent form. Hopefully we get a big crowd Saturday and that will help the team.

Funny sort of a mood going into the game, we were so excited for this season but it's turned into a mess despite promotion, we can all see the team aren't playing well, individuals are out of form and management are not inspiring any confidence. I think in at least one of these games the team will throw the shackles off and you could see a pure mad score line but as we know these type of performances and wins are not substantial long term. Team I'd go with Saturday. Rossie2020 (Roscommon) - Posts: 194 - 28/05/2025 18:20:23 2613309 Link 1 |
We improved around this time last year and played well in our last three matches . I think since the new rules came in we are very poor tactility and the players don't believe they can win. We go a few points behind in the second half and we seem to die,, no fight in them . Davy criticised the team in public and probably some players individually in front of the team. I hope they will put this behind them and put in a good performance.

I think I'd start Higgins but I'd agree with most of it if all are injury free and running well.
