Replying To The_analyser:  "St Michaels Junior champions for the first time since 1993 and to do it in that manner against a decent Clann outfit was some going. Fiachra Henry 2-12 to his name grabs the headlines and will do his county hopes to harm but it was a superb team performance by Michaels who defended well and attacked at pace and caused serious damaged to the Clann defence all afternoon.

From a neutral point of view a shame it was such a one sided of final but I feel it's better for the club game for first choice teams to be winning the Junior A and that's no disrespect to the B clubs.

Hopefully a good competitive intermediate final tomorrow, I think Eire Og will edge it but on the day you never know."
Congrats to the Mickaleens.
Do ye think that B teams should be in separate championships like in some other Counties?

Have you a breakdown of Fiachra's score?
2-12 is some scoring for anyone.

2-3 from play and 9 frees. Scored 1-5 4fs in the 1st half. 2nd half 1-7 5fs.

@Seanfanbocht at the moment probably not. Last ten years has produced 6 first choice team winners for the Junior championship and last year Ronans lost after a replay. Next year Kilglass and Aidans should be pushing hard for a return to intermediate.

Congrats to Castlerea back to senior level when five years away.

First half Eire OG 3 in front on the balance of play they were probably 6 or 7 points the better teams but Castlerea hung in there, grabbed a goal and 2nd half they were the better team. Dream way to win a final with the last attack of the match deep into added time and that was the first time in the match that Castlerea took the lead. The two top scorers in the intermediate didn't disappoint, Conor Cox couldn't have done much for more for his side while Adam McDermott turned out to be the match winners.

Best of luck now to Castlerea in the Connacht championship. Eire OG will be back again next year can just ask Dominics,Oran and Tulsk to how hard it is to win that county title and three have kept their senior status the last few years.

Four Roads beaten by 9 points by Tooreen in the Connacht Quarter final this afternoon. I think that is 8 years in a row that our county champions have been knocked out by the Mayo winner whom was mostly Tooreen and who have won Connacht titles and have challenged for the All Ireland or clubs are a long way off that level to be fair.

Going back to the Intermediate football championship, My team of the year

David Farrell (Castlerea) It was close run between himself and Colin Lavin but David our U20 county goalkeeper this year edges it for his better final performance yesterday

Gavin Murray (Elphin) Impressive and consistent championship from him, given the task of marking the best forwards on each team and didn't allow them score freely off him.

Jack Keane (Castlerea) Very good year for him, the experiment of playing him midfield last year didn't work and moving him back to his natural position made the county champions a lot more solid defensively. IMO should be on the extended county panel

Ross Timothy (St Croans) He was one of the stand out defenders in the championship not sure how he never made it as a county senior player as has all the ingredients to be a good one.

Sean Joyce (Castlerea) breakthrough season for the 20 year old, solid defender and good pace on the turn overs. Created the match winner yesterday.

Niall Higgins (Elphin) Solid and steady all championship worth another county call up if he can commit for 2024.

Aengus Lyons (Fuerty) serious work rate and set so many attacks in motion for Fuerty I think they have found his best position.

Jamesie Greene (Eire Og) With Crawley missing a lot of the championship due to injury he stepped up and had another good game yesterday even in defeat,

Jonathan Hester (Castlerea) Hasn't had much luck with injuries in recent years but when fit he's a serious addition to the Castlerea team, played in a more advanced role yesterday scored important goal and named MOTM

Ronan Dowd (Creggs) Not the best year for his club just about retaining intermediate status but Ronan really stood out scoring 0-25 in 4 games.

Shane Killoran (Elphin) Flying over and back to Dubai for games was serious commitment to the cause, 1-9 he chipped in with all from play.

Brian Greene (Eire Og) His debut season and loads potential to be a top senior footballer in the years ahead. Looking forward to seeing him in action for the county U20s in 2024.

Adam McDermott (Castlerea) recently turned 21 years old and kicked the winner to lead his club back to the senior grade and a level whereby he'll keep plenty of defenders on their toes. Scored 3-28 of which 3-9 came from play.

Conor Cox (Eire Og) Did all he could to get his club over the line yesterday, championship top scorer with 2-43 in 6 games that's 8 points per game average and he was also the top scorer from play with 2-13.

Liam Creaton (Eire Og) yet another good championship for him, really stood up in the semi final against Elphin. 1-14 to his name all bar one point from play.

Others I considered and had good championship. Mark Richardson,Aaron Feehily,Conor Harley (Pearses) Denis Barron,James McGreal,Aonghus McDonagh (Eire Og) Micheal Conroy, Padraig Joyce ,David Quinn (Castlerea) Adam Bracken (Croans) Cian Murray, Darragh Heavey, Mark Ward (Fuerty) Fintan Cregg (Elphin) Darragh O'Beirne (Shannon Gaels) Ryan Downling (Kilbride)

Any knowledge on the make up of the new County Senior Squad?
Kilroy retired and stories of McKeon travelling so those 2 not on it.
Brigids crew not available yet either.

Mckeon will be back apparently, travelling for a few months only from what others have been saying.

As I posted on here a week ago he going traveling and plans to be back towards the end of the NFL, such info I got from his relations on the field after the senior county final. This year he missed most of the NFL due to injury (late sub v Kerry his first appearance) before featuring in all championship games.

@Seanfanbocht in regards to new County Senior Squad there is meant to be trial games coming up and it remains to be seen how many of those players will even feature in the FBD so the squad is still to be finalised.

Fixtures are basically a reversal of this year so should be played the same weekends. Just need to know which of the four away games will be played on Saturday nights.

@Bruno33 if that's the case he's changed his mind in a week. best of luck either way on his travels.

Our leaked fixtures had us down to play Tyrone away in round one and Kerry at home on St Patricks weekend, Both dates and fixtures have been been reported on the independent,Examiner since then,

Duggan has transferred.

From what I've heard on others - both are still abroad. Daly teaching so difficult to know whether he leaves teaching position mid term to return. Harney is still travelling, his initial intention was to return to Roscommon but may be having 2nd thoughts

Best of luck to our reps in Connacht championship action this weekend, St Michaels on tomorrow face tough assignment to Tuam against Galway championship Menlough. Will be my first trip to Tuam for a club match since November last year when Strokestown brought Moycullen to extra time. Michaels have been our strongest junior champion for a number of years but couldn't have asked for a tougher draw as if they win here it's the Mayo Champions up next.

St Brigids in action on Sunday in Dr Hyde Park, looking at the odds they are expected to reach the Connacht final and another meeting with Corofin but things don't always turn out as expected. Sligo teams not to be taken for granted especially with the rise they have done at underage level the last while, Coolera/Strandhill have a nice mix of county youth and experienced players on their starting team if it becomes a competitive contest Brigids should have the street smarts to edge it like they did in competitive games against Boyle,Pearses already this year. Winning 1 match in that manner a lot more is learned about yourselves than winning 5 matches by large margins.
