O'Brien and Davy Burke (Kildare under 20 AI winning manager 2018) the two obvious ones that have been linked for a while now. Kevin Walsh at the time of managing sligo wasn't a rival to Galway and nor are they still no disrespect to them. We have played Galway in 5 connacht finals (6 if you include replay) since 2016 so that is why he declined an offer early doors. From my understanding Davy Burke is in the frame and Jason Ryan is meant to be with him as opposed to being another candidate. That would certainly be interesting. All I can say about my previous post is the all Ireland winner is from leinster. On my previous post about players going travelling one is going on term while the other ie only going for two months.. Hopefully we have something before county final next week. Yes Donegal haven't appointed but tragic circumstances prevented their county final been played last week and the candidate that will be appointed is managing one of the finalists so they know at least who it is. Burke would have been near the top of my list when AC stepped down tbh. Davy Burke with Jason Ryan is one of the more decent options I've heard and at this stage seems like it would be a decent shout. On the All Ireland winner from Leinster, if they're from the 90's then they're either from Dublin or Meath - could you say which team it is? I think we need to follow the example of Westmeath and Monaghan who saw the poor level of outside managers available and appoint internally. An outside who has had a string of poor jobs or no to little experience is not the answer to anything. Both appointments in those counties was former players that was already on their managerial teams this year. That would be Derek Duggan for Roscommon. Burke you are referring too? SmokieRoss i have been told Kevin Walsh wasn't approached at any stage. In our last search the county board searched all over including up north when the obvious choice was closer to home yet didn't realise that until their preferred candidate opted out. Can't do simliar this time as he's already snapped up. Already mentioned Davy Burke and i see the Herald are linking him in article today. There is other internal candidates who have managed Ros teams to all Ireland finals, plus others to have had good playimg careers for Roscommon. Wicklow lost all there group games in the league in his second year in charge, lost by 28 points to a poor Meath team in the championship in his first year and lost to division 4 Wexford in his second year, plus he had a poor year managing Sarfields this year.
