Anyone hear of any new club Managements ?

I imagine several senior clubs will be looking to shake things up a bit.

Was just wondering how many counties have gone Back to under 18 for minor I was told but not sure if it true only 5 counties are still under 17 for minor personally I' think it should be under 18 also can't figure out why in club in Galway it's under 19 football and under 20 hurling surely mske since have both same ,

Saw on Hoganstand that Meath delegates voted last week to return to u18 for minor.
Tipperary are voting on same this week.
Think most other Counties in Connacht are gone back to u18 ? Not sure of the total Nationally.

The logic in Galway seems to be that the separation of Adults and u17s allows the fixtures to run more freely.
A return to u18 would allow Clubs to look for Match postponements if 1 or 2 players had a Minor game close to Adult game.

Not sure how other dual Counties like Cork manage it or if they have a crossover of 18 year olds playing Adult games.

Haven't heard any arguments as to why its u19 for football and u20 for hurling. Allows lads to play both maybe ?

Cant understand how we have two different ages for football and hurling. Croke Park should dictate it is u20 or U19 for one grade and U18 or U17 in the other.

I see that dates for the FBD have been announced. Does anyone know where will the games be played this year?

I suspect JP wants them in Bekan.

Agree totally with that it should be same all over also hard understand how counties not looking for minor to go back to 18 at county level if all but 4-5 are at club level think top brass be bettt off sorting this out they more interested in messing with rules and championship in football I think since 2000 it must be 4-5 different formats spend more time sorting out minor

One of the Corofin players is training with Cavan. Is it one the Brady brothers? They might have a Cavan connection.

Good win for St Jarleths today, though not sure how strong the team is this year. Surprised to see there is 5 Mayo schools playing Senior Connaught A but only 2 Galway schools. The other schools are 2 from Sligo, CBS Roscommon and combined Leitrim Schools.

Why are you surprised ? As been said before we have lots of talent coming up in under 17s . And under 20s .

Leitrim still at U17 despite all our neighbours either at U18 or reverting.

We were one of the first counties nationally to change and there is an unwillingness bordering on total refusal to even consider going back from top brass.

Hard for clubs to retain the 17 year old going 18 in his first year adult.

Mayo schools have a lot less competition in terms of other sports. They are nearly all primarily football focused. In Galway, I think we have 8 schools in Senior B but football is not the main sport in all of them. Mayo only have 2 schools in senior B. We traditionally had Mary's in Senior A but they are not a factor any more unfortunately for various reasons. We have some big town schools who are strictly hurling focused like Athenry, Loughrea and Gort. We have Garbally who's main sport is rugby. The Jes is rugby.

Can anyone confirm who this is?
It would be a huge ask for anyone to travel to Cavan to train multiple times per week.
Also, can anyone confirm what is the rules for being elibgle for a different county?
Would this player need to transfer club to line out for Cavan? Like Conor Cox for Roscommon. But then Connor Carroll played for Roscommon prior to his transfer.

One big change is the demise of boarding schools some of whom used hoover up a large percentage of the best juvenile players post inter or junior cert as it was known at a given time. This accounted for many of the "stars" of Hogan Cup teams coming from schools that were thus consigned to the B division. Another factor is the establishment of new schools like Claregalway and Oranmore which helped divide the available pool of talent.

Yes I heard its Brady. The father is from Cavan. He wouldn't have to transfer Club under the parentage rule. I think its the midfielder Ciaran Brady. The brother is a forward.
