The people involved in the running of the club deserve the stand tickets"
Don't agree at all. Every member should have an equal chance of being rewarded with any given ticket. If you feel you deserve anything for your role within a club, you are doing it for the wrong reasons.

Obviously only right the people who run the club and train teams get first pick on tickets. I play with our first team, and with work wasn't able to give any more time than that , but no issue with all the volunteers getting sorted out it's well deserved.

Excitement is building and the ticket hunt goes on. Hopeful will have one by sunday and more importantly its a Galway win. I am cautious but confident we will do the business but as pointed out poreviosuly last few meeting between us and Armagh have both been draws QF in 22 & round robin in Sligo where Armagh topped tyhe group. We were much the better team that day in Sligo and should have been home & hosed and the kickout for their goal gave them the oxygen but we should have been well in control hoping lessons learned and to be fair it does seem to have been Gleeson kickout have been much better but lets not go bigging him up to much wait til after Sunday. Bigggest question for me is the starting 15 I believe we should go with same 15. Obviously Kelly would be the big ommission and Im sure another 2 weeks will have him in a better position but I dont beleive we should risk him and we will need the full 5 subs going down the home stretch against a very fit Armagh. They looked so much ahead of Kerry in terms of fitness going down the stretch. What asub to bring in if kelly is fit and does not start. I am hoping another 2 weeks will give Comer another few percent whilst he was quiet against Donegal he jsut occuppies all of them & imagine if he clicks. Winning a semi with out our 2 superstars Comer & walsh hitting their heights is a great position to be in. Who will be detailed to pick up O Neill? Cant wait. Gaillimh Abu the west is awake.

I guess we will have to agree to differ . I dont think any of these people are doing it for the wrong reasons. But if I was putting in the hours on the thankless tasks , and didnt get a ticket in the draw as a result a complete open draw strategy , then I would be considering whether I would put the effort in the next year. Hence , it is vital to reward the hard workers and it is no more than they deserve. Regular members deserve their shot too but at a lesser priority.

For the season tickets I've been a bit confused - do you have to shell out the 55/100 euro for semi and final (not to mention all other games) as part of the 150 or do you only get the league games free and have to pay for the championship?
I've never considered buying as I'm involved in a club as well and go to more than enough games & will probably get a final ticket.

In some ways I know the 250 euro banquet & ticket is a bit of a balls but if it's the only game you go to all year it's definitely cheaper than going to every game!

On the tickets side I'm not sure who should really take priority over committee vs adult players. I know senior clubs get more tickets and those are usually the bigger clubs. Don't know of too many really big clubs in intermediate or junior. Maybe I'm wrong there.
It is either very difficult or impossible to be a playing member and a committee member - you will either lose out on training time or have too much to do during week. So I really don't think it's fair to tell a player to consider joining committee.
You might say it's difficult work to be a cttee member - your club will die if you haven't enough players, simple as that. You'll probably struggle along without some core cttee member for a while or spreading the job around, but without the players the club is done.
In my view : adult players + coaches, slightly ahead of cttee members, then once they are sorted raffle to general club members.

Completely Disagree. Yes players deserve tickets but at a lower priority than committee members. As somebody who has done both roles there is a huge difference. Playing is great fun, players play because they want to. Committee participation is the opposite of fun, but people do it out of love of the sport and to facilitate the fun that the players get. If 5 players decide not to play for a year in a club there will be others to fill their shoes. If 5 committee members were to pull out in a given year, replacements would not be so easy to find and it will impact the club. Therefore to me , its a no brainer.

So, Paddy who pays membership and does absolutely zero in the club (plenty do this on the off chance of Galway getting to a final) should be in with the same chance of getting a ticket as the secretary, chairman, people who coach the under 8s/10s, do the lotto etc.? That's bananas

€150 for adult season ticket or €30 for juvenile will get you free admission into all league games including league final. You also get free tickets for All Ireland Club Finals. For championship you pay full price for seat but you get good seats. Juveniles are free into all league games but €5 for all championship games expect final where they pay full price. In previous years you got free admission to first round of championship and €5 discount on all championship games except All Ireland but this has changed.

Best of luck on Sunday.

I go to more games than most people I know but have never bought a season ticket because I know that there will be games I can't go to (away league games especially) for one reason or another (mainly having small kids and local club sporting commitments in my case).
I'm involved in my club and it's a small one so I don't have to worry about getting an All Ireland ticket.
It would be a waste of money for me to get one."
Valid points. I used to have a season ticket but gave it up when I got back involved in coaching at my club. It's hard to go to every county game when your invested in your local club. In my experience all senior players and board members, coaches get sorted. Any left over are raffled among remaining club members.

A lot of tickets come in from outside. West of Ireland teams probably have an advantage in that many ex pats would be living all over the country.

Anyway all the best and I hope you and all the genuine Gaels get sorted for tickets.

For All Ireland Final's, the GAA usually designate an All Ireland final ticket to each County to cover the total number of registered/full paid Club members in each County, plus County board etc.So club players, club committee members etc in Galway should all be guaranteed a ticket if they have fully paid for adult Club membership for that code.

GAA Season ticket holders are separately guaranteed All Ireland final tickets if they meet the attendance criteria throughout the year. Season ticket is a great, particular for County fans who are no aligned with clubs etc, but who attend all National League and Championship games, as they can avoid club politics.

Problems usually arise when Committee members or players are trying to sideline club tickets for partners or family members who have no club membership and who most likely haven't attended many games all year, by telling full paid club members that there is only a limited number of tickets available to the club.

It's terrible value. 150 quid for 7 free league games, when league games are just 20 quid each. The vast majority of people can't make every league away game, especially as with D1 football they'll be in 3 corners of the country. Then there's the added ridiculousness that for championship games you can't add someone to sit beside you. So if you want to bring a parent to Croker, they'll often have to sit elsewhere.

It used to be a reasonable proposition when it was cheaper and you got a free championship game and option to bring a friend. Not anymore

just around Trim and Athboy today in Meath, huge amount of Galway flags and bunting in a lot of houses, much more than 2022, 2001 was colourful to as the houses had meath and galway flags out. Most people im talking to really rooting for Galway outside of the diaspora, i think MCGeeney rubs people up wrong over the years especially in Meath from the rivalry with Kildare. The Galway support is strange they seem to be everyones second county, i know all the kids are either going around in Kerry or Galway jerseys around here this years, the Galway jerseys seem very prevalent among the teenage girls. anyway hopefully Galway get over the line, there will be ahuge Meath contingent down for the races next week too.

I suppose they are not aimed at the vast majority of people, they are aimed at the 2000 or 3000 supporters most division 1 counties have that travel to all games.

Even if you travel to all league games, how does 7 games x €20 translate into a €150 season ticket? Its been abundantly clear to most season ticket holders for a while that the GAA are trying to disuade people from continuing to buy them. They've proven problematic for the association for a few reasons. In Galway, for example, they're now putting football and hurling championship games on the same, after years of doing it for league. If you wanted to fulfill your mandatory championship games for both you wouldn't be able to. If you're a die-hard fan you're better off paying your club membership and saving the season ticket money for a tout if it comes to desperation stakes for a final

Question for the group, if Kelly can play are we as well of to start him or bring him on as a sub?

IMHO we start him as if he has to go off then we use 1 sub
BUT, if we bring him on as a sub and for whatever reason the injury flairs up and he has to go off again (then that using 2 subs).

What do people think? I'm a big believer in starting with strongest 15, no point bring good lads on if they have to chase a fair deficit.
