From pics online the pubs around town had people in that were wearing jerseys. So I'm sure it the jersey was an excuse for a bouncer or who ever, to use to refuse entry to someone they either don't like the look of or is a bit worse for wear.. people that were drinking in Dublin and then drinking on a train/bus down, would be very messy by time they get back to Galway. Any word on homecoming details and what days sam will be at the races? Letitinnow (Galway) - Posts: 18 - 16/07/2024 08:50:00 2559430 Link 0 |
Its one specific pub not all pubs, and to be fair the lad who wasnt let in wearing a Galway jersey has won a fair few club all Irelands and has had some standout performances in a Maroon jersey himself. Bizarre call but I think that pub its just trying to have notions, its not even great to be honest so no loss...lets just not give them GAA business if that's what they want.

Also just to add, the lad who tweeted it (former county player who is famously a t-totaler).

Very strange given that pub was packed with lads in jerseys for the game against Mayo and the FA cup Final. Maybe a hopped up bouncer feeling important.. or a Mayo man Kinvara (Galway) - Posts: 182 - 16/07/2024 11:05:04 2559453 Link 1 |
Yes I have seen the tweet now, that lad causes more trouble on the field than he would in a bar, but I see the pub was messaging under it as well saying they weren't refusing jerseys, only intoxicated people so maybe it was the people he was with? but now it just looks like I'm defending them where as I've never been to that pub and more than likely never will anyways, plenty of better pubs around.

Back to Tuam stadium, win or lose. Not going near the city this time.

Not letting drunk people into your premises is fair enough. Not letting anyone with a Galway jersey in, is pure ignorance. Gearoid1998ffowaed (Galway) - Posts: 132 - 16/07/2024 14:58:20 2559534 Link 0 |

Just got the email there 20 minutes ago, process is a bit different to the usual way of buying tickets via the season ticket portal but worked first time thankfully!

You'll have to cater for the west board clubs and supporters seeing as we make up at least 1/3 pf the starting team.

Win or lose the homecoming should be at the Cathedral car park in the city on the Monday night circa 8.30pm. There is no school in the morning, so families can come into the city and be in no rush home. The hurlers homecoming in 2017 was a joke at Pearse Stadium at 6pm. Alternatively, the Monday night is the first night of the races, the racecourse location could be an option but the admission price may be an issue, unless the race committee did a family rate on the Monday evening, there is parking, a good road network, good viewing, food stalls etc and shuttle buses to and from the city. Word is galway co board will receive 16k tickets, same amount as armagh and what cork and clare got for the hurling. I think each club got 60ish tickets back in 2022 whether they receive more or less this time reminds to be seen Galway456 (Galway) - Posts: 123 - 16/07/2024 20:40:58 2559616 Link 0 |

A dangerously presumptive air imo about this post, talking about 2017 and 2024 in the one breath.

Just looking back there at 2021 all Ireland alot of talk coming up to it that it would be a "soft" all Ireland for mayo after beating Dublin and Tyrone after beating kerry. The Galway v Armagh game is been spoken about in similar terms,"galways to lose" "soft all Ireland to win"jeez I'm afraid of what Armagh may bring to the table,it will be another very close affair no doubt.i live close to pearse stadium and the training was in full flow until 9.30pm,tonight tue.no rest for sure.
