In Limerick, Tipp, or Cork possibly but hardly in Galway. Galway is quintessentially a footballing county, even though hurling is quite strong in certain areas.

Congratulations Loughrea. Great win. No complaints at all. By far the better team though St Thomas's made it close. I really hope you win the All Ireland. Hard luck St Thomas's. Conor Cooney still a force of nature.

Replying To basillarkin:  "Hopefully Loughrea go on and win the all Ireland now, had the hard route to the final and were the outstanding team in the championship and again tonight, should have won by alot bigger margin, was disappointing to see some Thomas players at the end with Liam Gordon. It wasn't a 65, the right call was got there in the end."
Agree it wasnt a 65. I reckon the Thomas's players were more peeved that the final whistle was blown immediately after their goal. As a neutral, I thought there should have been about another minute played. The officials appeared to take at least that length of time consulting on the 65/wide ball which came so close to the end of normal time and did not appear to have been included in added time. But regardless, Loughrea were the best team on the night and deserved to win.

Without doubt the greatest 1 point hammering in a Country Final .

Loughrea kept toms to 4pts from play in 65 mins. 1-10 from Conor cooney alone, 1-9 from frees. Darragh burke, Farrel and manso 4 from play. On the other hand, Loughrea scored 1-11 from play. That's the difference between the two teams and as I pointed out before the game toms full back line Vs lrea full forward line was were game was won and lost. They were torn to shreds in there.

Good to see the crowd voting with their feet last night, poor turnout for the lights show. Loughrea play Ulster champs which will likely be Slaughneil. Who'll beat them. They've been knocking on the semi final door too often. Lost last years one by a point

If Slaughtneil beat Portaferry in the SF I think they will win Ulster. I think whoever wins that SF will win Ulster.
They only beat Portaferry by a goal in last years final, and the year before Cushendall needed extra time to beat Portaferry in the semifinal, before beating Slaughtneil by 4 points in the final.
Whoever wins Ulster will be tough opposition in the AISF.

I respectfully disagree. Galway is a DUAL County. Almost 50/50. I cheer equally for either though in my area it's 100% hurling.

Galway more dual than limerick and even tipp they regularly compete higher end in both if that's how you define dual absolutely galway are just as much of dual if not more than limerick and tipp

Pretty decent club championship in terms of finding a few players for the county panel. Kieran Hanrahan, Darren Shaughnessy, Cillian Whelan, Victor Manso all worth a look in the league next year. Would imagine Daniel Loftus and John Cooney will be getting a recall as well after good seasons. Throw in Rory Burke and the few young lads that will be in or around the panel next year like Jason Rabbitte, Cullen Killeen, Sean Murphy and Aaron Niland and I'd say Donoghue will be fairly happy.

Agreed but Loughrea was very wasteful. This won't do from here on out. This match was far closer than it should have been due to Loughrea's wastefulness. They won't get away with this against a Ballygunner or a Ballyhale, etc.

You're well off on this one. Galway couldn't be more dual. A remarkably similar number of clubs in both codes, and registered players from underage to adult are very equal. It's far more even than some of the counties you've listed.
I'd say your knowledge of Galway GAA is lacking, if you think Galway is predominantly a football county.

No need for Loughrea to be too worried if Ballygunner and Na Piarsaigh are two of the best teams in Munster. Woeful standard of a game.

I'm watching ballygunner now. They have 8pts on the board at HT Vs a bad na piarsigh team. Loughrea are on an upwards trajectory. They are in 4th gear still have a bit to improve on they did waste a lot but the performance was important and they were leaps and bound ahead of Thomas'

Fair play to b'sloe. 3 in a row. I see Joe Byrne listed on Kinvaras management team, he has them hurling well
