There is no Senior B next year. Only Senior and Premier Intermediate. They will be in that intermediate in a couple of years time no doubt. Their best player is in 42 years old and they seem to have nothing coming through at underage.

Regardless of what happens tomorrow, there is a fairly big gap between the top four and the rest. Think only Loughrea, Clarinbridge, Turloughmore and St Thomas' can win the championship. Four very good teams. The chasing pack are mediocre at best, led by Oranmore, Larkins, Sarsfields and Athenry. Moycullen and Castlegar bringing up the rear. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 976 - 23/08/2025 21:23:31 2633264 Link 0 |
Oh the mighty Castlegar....only Club in Galway fielding 5 adult teams, Senior, Junior A,B,E,F. That's some amount of hurlers for the big urban parish yet still relying on a 42yr old to save their Senior status! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2701 - 23/08/2025 21:54:37 2633271 Link 1 |
The Bridge have now scored 11-49 in two games against Turlough and Ardrahan. It will take a very good defence to keep that forward line quiet later in the championship. The game today was over at half time once the first two goals went in from Aaron and Evan Niland. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 976 - 24/08/2025 15:34:22 2633337 Link 0 |
Is it just me but is the standard of hurling very poor this year. Don't get me wrong as Clarinbridge turloughmore and Thomas's are playing very well but the rest of the teams standards are poor enough I'm kinda shocked at how the group stages are not as competitive as they once were. Hopefully when the knockout stages come it is more competitive but really the standard has to be brought back up again. Off_the_post (Galway) - Posts: 14 - 24/08/2025 15:48:54 2633339 Link 0 |
Think it's just the level that the top four are at. Any of Loughrea, Clarinbridge, Turloughmore or St Thomas' would fancy their chances of an all ireland if they can get out of Galway. The rest are a mediocre bunch.

Sarsfields a good bit better today. Strong at 3 and 6 with Darren Morrissey and John Cooney. Kevin Cooney and Alex Connaire were super up front. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 976 - 24/08/2025 17:24:32 2633350 Link 0 |
Anyone know how to work the website? I just want a list of this weekends hurling results please CillTormoir (Galway) - Posts: 576 - 24/08/2025 20:15:00 2633383 Link 1 |
It's a pity Clarinbridge and Turloughmore never 'get out' of Galway, while simultaneously fancying their chances of an all-ireland.

In no way am I trying to claim moycullen are in the top 6 or 7 teams..but yesterday they were missing colm Cunningham, diarmuid davaren and fionn mcdonagh..thats 3 of their 4 best players.(Along with eanna noone)..have them and they are at 10 points closer to Thomas's. I'd be confident a full moycullen team would beat gort .,(and indeed athenry) if they get those players back remains to be seen.

One Senior A team will be relegated to Intermediate with Senior B winner for 2025 replacing them in 2026.

They might beat Gort if they get those lads back alright. Couldn't see them beating Athenry. Jason Rabbitte didn't play that first game either and he is the main outlet up top for Athenry. It's just a pity that a lot of teams this year aren't even competitive in the group stages. Moycullen and Ardrahan at least have a number of injuries to key players. The likes of Castlegar, Kilimordaly are just poor teams. Kilconieron have a very young team so can probably be excused.

The Gort game is huge for them and they will fancy chances if they can get the players mentioned above back but tyey would not fear a castlegar or in a relegation battle if they lose to Gort. The gap is massive between the top side Thoams`s Loughrea Clareinbridge & Turlough but as a poster said its time for Turlough & The Bridge to get over the line they "have been up & coming" and tipped many a time over the last decade. I do think Clareinbridge look priomed to deliver but again would question their battling qualities in a tight semi or final against a Loughrea or Thomas`s.

This senior b, intermidiate A that most counties have nowadays is a load of nonsense. Just call it senior, intermidiate and junior like it always was and work back from there. That's how it's done in kilkenny, not sure how many other counties have the same. richiepmurphy (Kilkenny) - Posts: 35 - 25/08/2025 10:46:58 2633478 Link 0 |
Good to see Kiltormer bouncing back from relegation to Junior A with 5 wins from 5 . Sometimes going down can be a launch pad. Dont know much about the other teams left in the Junior championship puckemhard (Galway) - Posts: 238 - 25/08/2025 13:04:02 2633504 Link 0 |
List of weekend results on Galway bay website thanks to them for that. Why is our own county website so disgraceful? CillTormoir (Galway) - Posts: 576 - 25/08/2025 13:31:29 2633514 Link 3 |

Agreed Cill Tormoir , the inter county season was much better than usual with nice videos on social media etc. But club season has been awful . No results , tables fixtures etc puckemhard (Galway) - Posts: 238 - 25/08/2025 14:04:24 2633525 Link 1 |
Rabbitte was playing and held scoreless
