Regardless of who's managing our minor and U20 county teams, there's a much bigger job for Galway hurling, which is the development of our young players through the ranks and eventually into quality seniors. Those managers will have a key role for certain, but it goes way beyond that.
Overall, given our resources it's fair to say we have failed in this regard to a large degree and the recent trend has been getting worse unfortunately.
I've seen the announcement of hurling and football taskforces being created to review all aspects of player development in the county. I hope they can deliver on their remit and provide some tangible methods in which we can improve, which will in turn produce results evident on the field.

Replying To John Doe:  "There is NO Senior B next year. There will be 16 teams in Senior, 16 in Intermediate, 16 in Junior A and so on. Team relegated from Senior A this year will be Intermediate next year. 7 teams who don't win Senior B this year will join team relegated from Senior A in Intermediate along with the 8 teams who finish 1st and 2nd in the Intermediate groups this year.
Hope that clears it up."
Thats what I understood as well.

Replying To katser:  "Delighted Galway won, but could have easily lost it from being in a commanding position for majority of the game.
Missed penalty for Cork, playing with 14 for 2nd half, fitter team towards the finish, Galway playing with two sweepers and giving away lots of frees due to inviting on intense pressure because We hadn't our 6 forwards up front to win the ball.
When Cork went direct and scored the goal Galway had 11 players inside their own half. Then when Maher won the free Galway had 10 players inside the Cork half!
Winning, playing well and with extra player Galways tactics are let's keep two sweepers back and hold out!"
Jesus you're a dose and no mistake.

You must be the first and only person ever to be crying about a team that wins an All Ireland when they were claiming to support them.

'Delighted'

Indeed.

I'm sorry for your trouble.

Will be interesting to see if Clarinbridge can put in the same level of performance this week against Ardrahan. They should win easily but it was their intensity that was noticeable against Turlough. Even for the first Josh Ryan goal, it was a heavy shoulder from Evan Niland on Barry McDonagh that jolted the ball free. Hopefully Aaron backs up his two goals from the first game.

Oranmore Cappy game is hard to call. Oranmore had an awful lot of wides the last day and if they tidy that up they could make it two wins from two. I think Sarsfields will beat Larkins as long as Alex Connaire is back. They would have won the first game if he was available, he is crucial to making them tick around the middle. Should be comfortable wins for Loughrea and Athenry.

Expect Turloughmore to get back on track against Castlegar. There are some off the field things that may have affected Turlough the first day out, those things are much bigger than a game of hurling and we wish them well.

As the crow said to the ewe...."I'll keep picking at ya till I get a reaction". Job done and onto the next ewe!

Normally I'd totally agree about that poster. Reminds me of a poster on the 42.ie who claims to be from galway but always backs against them.

But the points katser makes are valid. If Cork had got the winning point after the equalising goal it would have been seen as an absolute bottle job by galway and the manager would have got slaughtered for his tactics with an extra player.

True. But it's a tricky one. If he played the spare woman further out and Cork got 2 or 3 goals instead of just the 1 he'd of been slaughtered also. Hard to win, unless you win, and seemingly even then you don't win with some people ;-)
