Replying To Trump2020:  "Fair enough. So are you saying the majority of people or bettors favor St Thomas's over Bridge and Sarsfields?"
Must be the case

They would set starting odds. After that the odds will settle depending on what way the money goes on.

Had their chance last year and blew it. They don't have the same squad depth as the big hitters and they are in the toughest group where they will be under pressure in all three games.

One thing about cappy last year is they shown that they can take down a big team. Started of slow in the championship but did get alot of momentum. They may or may not be in the business end this year but they did show that rest of the teams that you may not have the biggest squad or alot of inter county players but when you challenge the bigger teams and ask them questions anything can happen.
I reckon this year's championship is gonna be competitive and not as easy as people thinks. Alot of good competitive teams.I can see some upsets this year and that's the beauty of our club championship. Looking forward to the start on Friday evening.

Turloughmore 4/7 Clarinbridge 6/4. Odds for their match this weekend. Anyone able to give a reason for those odds cos they seem way off to me. A game that could go either way I would have thought.

Turlough good league and they will be favourites against everyone in the competition with the squad they have this year, would probably be an even money either side game if they met Loughrea. Not sure if Clarinbridge will have a full deck for this one and if they have learned anything from previous years, they need to be peaking later in the year rather doing their best hurling in the group stages. Either way Bridge will have a big say in winning the cup in a few months time.

Turloughmore by 6+ on this one. Clarinbridge are lacking a few players and over reliant on a few.

St Thomas's hammered Gort. They're not gone away yet.

Exciting finish in Athenry to the Oranmore Sarsfields game but over the full 60 minutes the quality wasn't that great. Lot of misplaced passes on both sides. Sarsfields were without Alex Connaire, Michael O'Hanlon and Niall Quinn from their usual starting 15. Oranmore's younger brigade done well, especially Rory Burke, but it's hard to see them beating one of the top sides in a knockout game later in the year.

Ahhhh but in fairness it's the first match so there was bound to be sloppy play all around. You're probably right though.

Castlegar look to have regressed majorly since last year. Won't be causing any trouble in knockouts like they did last year. Absolutely fell over the line by a point against an Ardrahan side that were without their first choice full back, centre back and a key forward in Jason Kennedy. Also without Johnny Glynn.

Big early marker being laid down by Clarinbridge. A joy to watch Aaron Niland this evening

Hmm as the saying goes, when it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it's safe to conclude it is a duck. Turlough have been flattering to deceive for as long as I can remember. The odds on that match were mad.

Athenry
Clarinbridge 5-21 Turloughmore 1-26. Turlough up 3 pts at ht. Aaron Niland two goals and made another.

Ballinasloe

Cappataggle 2-17 Tommy Larkins 1-20. Cappy five points up ten minutes left, tried to manufacture goals, missed four chances which would have put them nine points up and paid the price - could have lost game.
Skehill saved certain goal last minutes but because of where the ball hit his body was unable to finish game.

Senior B
Ahascragh Fohenagh 1-36 Portummna 3-9
Cathal Mannion 17 pts …
Joe Canning 2-5

Like the look of the way Clarinbridge lined out having both Gavin Lee and TJ Brennan in the half back line along with a Galway u20 in Dylan Dunne. They aren't going to meet many half forward lines that will beat them and like this evening, there is going to be so much ball going into that dangerous forward line if the lads are on top at the back.

Ahasragh-Fohenagh clear favourites for Senior B title....there is not one other player as good or even close to the standard of Cathal Mannion in Senior B.
Luckily for the likes of Portumna and Pearses there is no relegation from Senior B this year!!

Luckily for Gort they have Moycullen in their Group to avoid Relegation!
