Bit of a myth this 'underachieving' tag imo. I asked you before to name these underachieving Galway players, and you named 5or6, that to my eye (with maybe one exception Broderick) were no better than average players, but perhaps to the distant Wexford eye were chargeable as underachieving for some reason.

They say it's alright to talk to yourself but once you start answering yourself it's getting serious!

I didn't see the match but was listening to it on the iPhone. The announcers kept repeating WORK RATE of the Galway Hurlers which I was happy to hear. If we improve a bit every match then I'm sure good things will happen in the near future. Side note: Lee Chin is a fine hurler that any county would be happy to have. Joe canning is who I was talking about obviously. Don't get me wrong, there are loads of great hurlers from Galway. Chinner is a clubman of mine and I can't not defend him knowing how hard he has worked. He was awful in 2013 and has improved immeasurably every year since. Every hurling person knows they're lucky to have seen him. Sadly he's going to be in the collection of all time greats who never saw an all Ireland final. All stars mean nothing. Only semi finals are considered which is complete nonsense. The fact that Chin keeps getting nominated when we're not making provincial finals and getting beaten in quarter finals is probably a bigger achievement. Anyway, good luck in your remaining games. Absolutely vital that the u20s win against Dublin on Wednesday evening and go on and win Leinster. Tipp are strong in Munster on other side but we are well overdue a Leinster u20 title at least. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 891 - 11/05/2025 14:37:27 2608418 Link 1 |
Apologies all on the Galway forum if my post came across as a bit off and tetchy, just disappointed way Wexford never turned up yesterday, Galway were obviously the better team on the day so on that score no complaints from me. Wished we could have put up any sort of display. Time to move on. Jedobi (Wexford) - Posts: 237 - 11/05/2025 14:42:28 2608420 Link 6 |
"no wonder Wexford are where they are at, a Wexford fan backing Galway against another Wexford supporter," NOW lads, there you have it - FINALLY we see the really reason why Wexford havent been competitive for years. Its nothing to do with underage, development squads, club structuctures etc. its primarily down to online Wexford supports supoorting online posters from other counties.

Feels good this morning to be able to take a breath and look a bit further down the road, it would take a catastrophe even worse than 2019 to knock us out of Leinster so I'm happy enough to say we have a leinster semi final against Dublin and will be in an All Ireland quarter final. Things will have to be freshened up next week given we're playing 3 weeks in a row so I'd be getting Daithi and the 2 Cooneys into the team and resting Fintan, Fahy, David and Whelan. The Mannions left in to stabilse everything but to be replaced asap if we get a lead. Leave the younger lads Lee, Killeen, fleming, molloy in situ aas well as Morrissey and Monahan who have found a bit of form. Whelan might already be indespensible in the half forward line so it may be a case of now switchign focus to try and replace him inside. If Kevin Cooney could recapture the form he briefly shopwed a few years ago himself and Molloy would be a decent combination, with Cathal in the role he was the last day and Concannon and Conor Cooney coming on Overdahill (Galway) - Posts: 39 - 12/05/2025 10:02:16 2608696 Link 0 |
