Won '80 '87 and '88 all Irelandss on the free ride to the semis, so you're not correct there. We didn't need to beat 'even worse Wexford' to know we don't match up with Cork or Limerick.

Strange game. Never felt like losing it even when they got it back to 3 points. One thing is for certain, we won't beat Dublin. But that will leave us third and into a CillTormoir (Galway) - Posts: 522 - 10/05/2025 20:24:12 2608169 Link 1 |
They could playing Wexford next year.

Don't recall Galway competing in a provincial championship in 80,87,88 so why I am incorrect in saying Galway had an easier path to the All Ireland? Galway played 3 games in 1980 and 1987 and 2 in 1988 and beat Kerry and Kildare in All Ireland quarter finals. Spent the whole of the 1960s in Munster without winning a title and won 3 Leinster titles since being in it.

You're incorrect in saying they couldn't win an all ireland, when they won '80 '87 '88 and '17.

I understand you're replying to a silly post but calling Chin average is beyond ridiculous. In your entire history you've produced some excellent players but only one better than Chin ever. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 3580 - 10/05/2025 22:07:54 2608224 Link 0 |
Great , thanks for backing me up, no wonder Wexford are where they are at, a Wexford fan backing Galway against another Wexford supporter. Nothing silly about my post but what I expect from the Wexford forum.

Maybe I haven't seen enough of Lee, but I'd rate Cathal Mannion ahead of him, and I'm not sure if that's who you had in mind? Have you seen every Galway hurler in 'entire history? You must be 100+ years old.

Yes that was only to get a reaction Chin is a brillant hurler but to say we only produced one better hurler is even more ridiculous, first of all compare Cathal Mannion and lee chin i would say mannion is a better hurler, then to dive deeper joe canning, david burke, joe cooney, eugene cloonan, and i would say Conor Whelan and if we count in the backs and what our lads have achieved id say daithi Burke is a far better hurler than chin, a 4 time all star who would pocket any hurler on his day

No rule that says a poster from a neutral county can't comment on a game that doesn't involve them. It happens all the time . Actually I think it's good to get the views good or bad from anyone outside of the participating teams. All are welcome.

Need to be gracious in victory or defeat mate. Galway's long history of underachievers is nothing to do with us being well beaten yesterday. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 3580 - 11/05/2025 07:38:02 2608297 Link 1 |
Calling Chin average is absolutely ridiculous in fairness. He is a class act, one of the greats. Don't agree that we only had one lad better than him in all time but certainly only a few. In relation to the match, we had to win it and we did so job done and on to next week. Trucker1 (Galway) - Posts: 429 - 11/05/2025 09:53:12 2608338 Link 1 |
Dublin v KK should be interesting and will reveal more about the Dubs strengths and weaknesses .

Lee Chin is a fantastic hurler, but the facts are he will be on his holidays after the 25th!!! ahsure. (Galway) - Posts: 1687 - 11/05/2025 10:27:52 2608356 Link 0 |
Humble in victory and gracious in defeat was the motto, I think. Defeat hurts everyone and blaming the opposition is the way some "supporters " express their anger. We in Galway know a fair bit about losing in both codes but to claim that the provincial system was to our advantage historically in hurling, is laughable.

Two down and two to go, this handy run of Div 2 teams is setting us up nicely for the Leinster Final.

Anyone know if our game against dublin will be in parnall park or croke park after the yup bros spread round up on the pitch. I would fancy our lads in croke park. Everyone seems to be writing us off against Dublin big time, i suppose there is merit to it with our record against dublin, but i watched the offaly dubs game and the dubs werent great, without john hereton coming on and they resorting to long balls against a shakey offaly defence the biffos would have won, also against Wexford, of course the penalty but that game went down the wire, and we had wexford at arms length yesterday and never looked like losing. Maybe its a good thing we are being wrote off Galway456 (Galway) - Posts: 140 - 11/05/2025 11:26:12 2608379 Link 0 |
