I never have an issue with lads a year younger playing if they're good enough. The better lads that are involved for a second year were way better at 16 than this year's group. Fact. I think they're was 13 u16s in last year's overall panel. Some of them shouldn't have been in there too. Was there 5 regular u16 starters on last year's minor team.

Joe canning ger farragher to mention just 2 were on the galway minor team when they were only 15 had you a problem with them ?

So the fact that there's 6 of them isn't actually an issue for you. Why even mention the number in that case. It's a very normal amount, probably even on the low side. The other statement you've said is fact, is actually opinion. It's your opinion that last year's U16s on the panel are better than this year's. It is an issue. Read my original post.

I don't think there is anyone playing Celtic Challenge that would be a starter on this team though? It looks likely that Aodhan McDonagh, Robert Burke and Sean Moran would have the key positions at the back. Up front you will have Roche, Calahan, Cian Hannon, Stephen Keane, Zimmerer in the mix for starting (probably need a ball winner in half forward line). Cant see there being too many starters from the u16 group, though I'd like to see Lohan to see what he can do.

My point exactly. Why not give the better lads of minor age on the Celtic Challenge the opportunity to fight for a place on the minor team instead of bringing up u16s that have no chance of game time. I suppose your surname still counts in Galway.

Is it not more of the case that yes you could do that, have a minor team stacked with best 17year olds but then theres a gap the following year with very few if indeed anyone who has played that level, Whereas by having a mix of 16year olds this year, you'd expect them then to be the leaders in the camp next year.

As I've said already I've no problem bringing lads up if there good enough to be contesting for a starting place. Probably just 1 of this year's group. Leave the rest of them @ u16.

Will be interesting in the minor to see this Kilkenny team. Being talked about as if they can't lose. Certainly on paper they have an exceptional bunch this year. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 870 - 18/04/2025 09:43:05 2602535 Link 0 |
Yes hopefully frees not an issue. Glad to see mannion at 11 this is his team now. Fleming should add a bit of dog at 10 and if proper ball put in there is goals in FF line. Have a bit more confidence looking at line up if prob pick glennon or linnane over Monaghan jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1456 - 18/04/2025 10:39:13 2602546 Link 0 |
I was wondering about the freetaker too. Probably Cathal Mannion.

Just seen the Galway team v KK and it doesn't look very inspiring!!! No C Cooney, J Flynn or E Niland, who is going to take the frees!! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2546 - 18/04/2025 11:47:09 2602563 Link 1 |
Mannion isn't on the level of Horgan, gillane, niland for frees. Kk are 6/4 -6 with paddy power... Tells ya all ya need to know.

I think Galway are going to see how it goes early on as far as free taking goes. If the free taking is horrible then there are choices on the bench.

Bookies aren't fortune tellers. The odds change in accordance with the bets that are placed. Maybe Galway people just aren't big on gambling apart from the horses

Ah nnnnnoooooo! Just cant do that! "See how it goes." That would be a very shoddy approach to take. Game could be won and lost in the first 20 minutes with that approach. Either MOD has confidence that Mannion or Killeen will do the biz on frees or else there will be changes to the named team and Cooney or Niland will start.

They've lost enough through the years. Lol

Must be Mannion on the frees. Arguably no need for Fintan at 3 now that TJ isn't playing. We would be better off with more pace in there with Daithi on Mossy Keoghan. Fleming is a bit of a bolter starting at wing forward but he has a good hand and his physicality should be suited to Nowlan Park. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 870 - 18/04/2025 15:16:24 2602613 Link 1 |
Judging by your posts you've lost a sizeable number of bets based on all your nonsense about how our veterans would waltz back into the championship 15
