Replying To backtooldwall:  "Successful teams seem to develop an ability to get over the line in very tight games that previous this they may have lost, Kilkenny, Limerick in hurling Dublin in football or at local club level St Thomases, Portumna in hurling and of course Corofin in football. I think the answer is more likely to lie in this area rather than some of the conspiracy theories floating around. One thing I do seem to imagine is that teams who are expected win seem to be awarded frees sooner in marginal situations than less fancied opponents.PS .(This just a personal feeling not based on any known fact)"
Think you are spot on. And that's not just in the GAA.

I might buy myself the book for Christmas. Sounds like a good read.

Minor hurling final in Kenny Park tomorrow is also being streamed on Galway GAA TV. Athenry hot favourites after hammering Sarsfields in the semi final and they do have an exceptional team. Oranmore back in the final again and they have some great talent also. Worth keeping an eye on Gus Lohan for Oranmore who came on when they won the final last year when he was only 14. Captained their Feile All Ireland winning team this year and will still be eligible for this grade in two years time.

Nice to see Carnmore improving with a very young team.

I told ye carnmore would bate killimor, nothing really heartbreaking about it carnmore were far the better team, 2 late goals from killimor put a bit of gloss on the scoreline, rumours around that Paul killian broke his arm dont know how true it is, ill go for a carnmore v kinvara final, carnmore should have bet TAD last years quater and M/E embarrassed Kinvara last year but i think kinvara are dark horses this year

They most certainly are not two excellent teams.....realistically there are only 4 teams who can win the Intermediate Championship and its the 4 teams in the Semi Finals. That's why the Semi Finals will be very close 4 best teams in Intermediate who are all of a similar standard.
None of those teams would punch the lights out in Senior B and none of them would certainly not gain promotion to the top 16 Senior Championship!

It is a possibility that Carnmore and Kinvara could both win, but TAD are a more experienced team than raw Carnmore and TAD have a better 15 man v boys!
Eyrecourt can deal with the one trick pony Kinvara have....as the saying goes stablise the danger men or in this case danger man!

How many ponies have ye got in the stable, Katser?

Ye are a long time knocking at the door now, time ye got to a final isn't it?

You could be right about TAD having more experience but it certainly won't be men against boys.Carnmore developing very nicely.TAD will be favourites but Carnmore won't go down easily.

With all due respect to both Kinvara and Carnmore.....this year's Intermediate Championship screamed Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry v Meelick-Eyrecourt Final right from the get go....a bit like last year except TAD met Eyrecourt at the Semi Final stage.
Yes I know Carnmore have won the "A" grade at underage in recent years and are certainly building for the future (think this is their 6th year playing Intermediate since Relegation from Senior.

Just on another note...Castlegar the only Club with 5 Adult teams Senior, Junior A,B,E and F and they still can't win anything with all those hurlers.

Minor Championship finished today too.
Minor Division 1 (A) Champions Athenry
Minor Division 2 (B) Champions Kinvara
Minor Division 3 (B1) Champions Padraig Pearses
Minor Division 4 (C) Champions Ballindereen.

The Division 2, 3 and 4 Champions need to be graded up a Division next year. The County board need to consider Minor club returning to U18 next year also, the gap to U20 is too big or go back a year to U19.

Obviously if 4 of them are at junior level, it's no help at all towards developing a successful senior team

Kinvara are not a one trick pony, they have dismantled every team they have played this year. They have developed alot of young players over the last two years. I reckon they will win the intermediate this year and Meelick are poor.

Enjoyed the Minor finals in Kenny Park yesterday.

Kinvara decent value for their win, but Portumna are a spirited side and you could see they had far fewer numbers. Some good hurlers there. The Kinvara captain and Galway minor Rhys O Connor went down with a very nasty looking injury late in the game, get well soon

Athenry and Oranmore was a good standard for minor hurling, and a good crowd at it for them. Will have been a great experience for those young lads. Congrats to Athenry

Biggest difference in the first game was the free taking really, Nathan Rodgers nailed every placed ball including a delightful sideline cut, while Iarla Kelly who had a fine game in general play missed a few frees though the wind didn't help matters.

Rhys O'Connor had a great game at midfield and was desperately unlucky to get injured late on, looked like the ankle or achilles, had to be carried up the steps to lift the cup. Hope he gets well soon. Some really tidy players on show, Rodgers (clear MOTM), O'Connor, Burke, Byrne and Noah Huban in goal for Kinvara, Kelly, Jody Canning and the #6 who's name escapes me did well for Portumna. Jody Canning looks a good bit of stuff, I hadn't seen him before but he played very well yesterday

Ye have a lot of practice Katser, haven't ye been intermediate since 2006 IIRC?

M/E seem to have cornered the market in finding ways to lose matches in recent years

Ye couldn't beat T/A/D last year after all, final or not and I wouldn't put stolen money on ye doing it this year the way you have been playing . Almost manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory last time out also

I would argue Whelan has been Kinvara's 3rd best player this year. Ye can have 3 men on him if you want but enjoy the shooting of Liam Martyn and Darragh Helebert if that's what you decide to do
