Actually I dont think the mental side of it will be a problem at all for Tom's. They've been unlucky once or twice at All Ireland (particularly the time they lost to the last second goaled free scored by TJ Reid) but on the other occasions they were beaten fair and square by better teams on the day. They have loads of experience and will be every bit as hungry to win as they were in the semi final and as OLG will be in the final.

I agree the hunger will be fierce on both sides in the Final but one could argue there's more pressure on OLG as it's so rare they get out of Kilkenny in recent years due to Ballyhale. If they don't do it this year it could be a long time before they get out of KK again.

Very strong team named considering it is the first week of January. Looks like O'Shea on the frees from midfield. Hopefully Michael Walsh goes well at corner back, he is a fair tank of a young lad. Jamie at 10 is interesting. Cianan back in his proper position in the half back line. As the 2017 all-ireland final proved, 'championship finishers' are every bit as important as 'championship starters', and were arguably more important on that particular day. Ideally, we'd want a benchful of 'starters' in the subs, heading into every major game in 2024.

I fully agree with you however it was nice to see (or try to see) Galway being so hungry for goals. I'll take anything I can get this time of year.

didnt see the match at the weekend but heard some good things about it. was worried beforehand with the galway subs, was a lot of little lads. but the starting team had plenty men in fairness and nice to see them doing well. Cianan fahy has to nail a place this year now. and nice to see his fellow clubman walsh having a run. And mcmanus and john cooney have to be given a good run now this year. they are key to any Galway success. You didn't miss much thanks to the weather but there were some positives for Galway as in they were very aggressive and ran off to a huge lead and Offalys goal was basically thanks to our goalie having no idea where the ball even was due to horrible visibility. As I said Galway was very aggressive both from the puck outs and in front of the goals. Laois should be more of a litmus test unless we get freak weather again.

Nice panel for Galway for Sundays match vs Laois. 4 Loughrea lads. (No Fleming for those wondering in previous posts). Jason Flynn getting another start. I agree with Cyril Farrell that it's a more important match for Galway as Laois already have a fairly settled team whereas Galway are trying some different lads out. Hon Galway. It's going to be hard to shuffle this back line if Cianan is staying at 5 for championship. You'd imagine that Mannion, Daithi, Morrissey and Fintan all start so that would only leave one spot between Jack Grealish, McInerney, Shane Cooney, TJ Brennan, Tiernan Killeen and all the other young lads. At least it frees up Joe Cooney to go back to wing forward.
