Replying To PoolSturgeon:  "Your interpretation of what he said I would think. To me it sounded more like an evolving situation. From the start the feeling within the county was that it would be an internal appointment which put MD as the frontrunner but then when he turned it down /withdrew his name the net was cast out wider to look at possible candidates from outside the county. Thankfully they didnt just go with the obvious (Davy) and pulled off something of a coup in getting Shefflin. On paper I would think he would be the top choice for any county that needed to look beyond its own borders for a manager. Whether it works out of course is an entirely different matter. We will have to wait and see. A lot may depend on what locals he adds as selectors to his management team as they are the ones best placed to advise him on what players to consider for the senior panel."
That's a fair point PoolSturgeon, it was an evolving situation.

Thomastown out of the championship today. I'd say we can expect to see HS at the club hurling next weekend.

Replying To ahsure.:  "Thought the interview came across ok, one bit I found strange was Paul saying basically Henry was second choice."
He didn't mention first or second choices. He said that they approached MD and asked him to consider returning as manager and that after a few days Donoghue stated he wouldn't be available. There was no fall out or animosity. It's obvious from the interview, once MD wasn't available that Henry was their first choice and that he had been on their radar for some time.

Disappointed semi finals arent double headers this weekend. people held their tongue when board was charging €15 into stand alone intermediate games but this takes the biscuit. is Henry costing that much????

Surely asking MD to return implies he was first choice? Or am I missing something? I know he didn't mention it directly but that's how it came across from my perspective.

It's irrelevant now anyway. I am delighted we ended up with HS.

Agreed. I wonder is it anything to do with live streaming? They will probably have one of them on Beosport and the other one wont be. If they had the 2 of them on Beosport as a double header on the same day some people (like me) wouldnt go. Still mightnt go anyway cos it is a big inconvenience as well at costly having them over 2 days. In any case they should have them as a double header ...they could still have one televised and one not. It would make it more attractive and feasible to attend for people who live outside the county and have long distances to travel if it was a double header.

waiting on tg4s schedule to be announced, maybe just maybe, theyll show Sundays game if not many other 'big games' are on this weekend. I know Glen rovers semi is sunday at 330, odds on thatll be shown.

dont knock it too much OAPS and Students are getting in for a discounted price of €15 and under 4s are getting in for free provided they sit on a guardians lap and buy a programme.

Having been stuck in first gear like a farmyard hen for the past 2 years surely fellas have saved enough to pay 20 euros a game in Athenry! Some ppl aren't happy unless they're moaning!

Not moaning. I see both semi finals are scheduled for 2 pm starts which presumably means they are leaving enough time to play extra time in case they end in draws. With the clock going back I suppose it would mean a very early start for the first game if it had been a double header.

I think €20 for one game is wrong but look at it this way.Everything has gone up in price, oil, diesel, groceries and god help the people building a house with the price of materials, even second hand cars are worth more than what they were bought for last year. There are people who think that they should get into a club match in Galway for nothing and I am not referring to anyone who has posted, grown adults hopping the wall and look for a gap in the fence, but would be the first to buy an all Ireland ticket at €80 plus if we got to an all Ireland final. The cash cow has been idle for nearly 2 years and has to be milked. You could be looking at €25 if not €30 for the final. The fresh air will do us good after being locked up for so long.if you think 20 is bad go to a juvenile final and see the abuse given when supporters are asked for a fiver. If Shefflin delivers a Liam McCarthy it will be cheap at €20 a head.

Beosport offering both games at €5 each. Excellent value! i would have had no problem paying €20 for the weekend pass but I will grab it at €10. I assume county board gets a slice of viewings on this? or do they pay beosport to come in and cover it? well done to both regardless

No surprise with Clairnbridge winning as they really have a very good team!
Ballindeeren are safe even after losing today (score diff)
It's a straight shoot out between Mullagh and Tynagh-Abbey/Duniry...TAD have to win by 3pts to be safe!
But WOW shock of the year with Killimor beating the mighty Meelick-Eyrecourt!
Killimor through to Co. Intermediate Final....could it possibly happen that lowly Killimor get promoted to Senior while one of their more established Senior Club neighbours Mullagh or Tynagh-Abbey/Duniry get relegated to Intermediate!!!!!
What has the World come too!!
