Because he's a poster that would put a smile on a statue ; )

Replying To Triffic:  "Maybe, yet Kilkenny haven't won Liam in 8 years now, and they haven't near the amount of players coming off the production lines that Galway have currently. (Unlike Galway, they never led Limerick in the championship meeting last year, and unlike Galway also, didn't have a solid HB line). They do have a habit of playing above themselves and being greater than the sum of their parts. I'll grant you that."
What drugs are you on?

Kilkenny always have been and always will be superior to Galway in hurling.

This playing above themselves is pure nonsense.

They hurled Galway out of in last years Leinster final and gave Clare a lesson in how to play hurling in the semi final.

Wouldn't agree that KK "are and always have been superior to Galway in hurling". Galway have beaten KK many times and especially when least expected. Yes Galway have not always won games against KK that they should have won but that is down to many things like only being in the Leinster championship for the last number of years, only getting home matches recently, poor game management etc.

I think you summed up Galway there tommy that Galway have often beaten KK 'when least expected'.They were given little chance against Limerick last year and had a big performance. They were expected to beat KK in Leinster final and had a terrible performance. I would see ye as the greatest challengers to us this year if ye get consistent performances but nobody knows if ye will be consistent.

Hardly superior in 2018 anyway, which leaves the 'always have been' in questionable territory. KK had no less than THREE shots at beating Galway in the '18 championship, and didn't win any of them.

And also down to, as I've seen personally with my own two eyes on numerous occasions, Kilkenny are the masters of getting over the line. Not just against Galway. But Wexford and pretty much every other county also.

Replying To Viking66:  "Be nice to beat ye again Katser like this time last year but I think for us it's more important to give the newer players some time marking your big bruisers and get them used to playing the big, and very skilful I might add, lumps of lads that we just don't have many of down here!"
Absolutely for yourselves it's all about trying out new lads and getting them upto a top level, where from my opinion its all about winning and getting us "clicking". I'll be honest.....I'm expecting a decent Galway win and I would be "bitterly " disappointed if We did not win.....with all due respect as I said previously....there are bigger fish for the frying pan.

There is no doubt about it Kilkenny are the Grandmasters of hurling..those stats above speak for themselves.
Their achievements are 2nd to none.

So what's your point? We're talking about recent history not ancient history!

One could'nt agree that kilkenny were always superior. As a matter of fact before the formation of the Gaa, Galway was practically the only place where hurling survived and was played. Kilkenny people in the meantime were busy playing cricket and pissing on the powder. They should get down on their hands and knees and thank us Galway folk for keeping the game alive and giving them something to crow about

How did you feel coming out of Salthill last year then?!! Maybe it's more important of a game for you than me as it was around 3 years ago in a weird covid season since we lost to you in any adult hurling competition. Could be important for your lads psychologically at this stage to get a win.

Bitterly disappointed, but a big downfall of Galway hurling is that we tend to be masters of our own slip ups!
But sure we will see how Galway get on today!

Tiny bit nervous to be honest.

We've a fairly depleted hand tonight missing chin, 2 o connors, matt o Hanlon and Richie Lawlor (the big prospect of the year).

Hopefully get a good performance and some of the fringe lads step up.

Galway always produce a few players in fairness.

My standout memory of Galway supporters would be 07 quarter finals.

Ye were on the same day as us and I remember the passion of the supporters disdain for kilkenny being the only time I've seen our own matched.

Was devestated when you controlled the game and got hammered by Eddie Brennan in about 2 minutes.

A win this time of year is nice and all but really it's all about All Irelands. Just ask Limerick.

I missed the whole match due to work but was happy to hear they won a road game while missing all the St Thomas's guys and others. You need a great bench if you ever hope to contend with the likes of Limerick and others. Glad to hear Concannon and Niland played well. We have to get better at taking our GOAL CHANCES when they arise too. Galway Abu!

Yep. We've won a few Walsh Cups the last few years. Mean absolutely nothing. Better to get a lot of our younger fringe players the experience of playing a good Galway selection in front of a good crowd.
