Replying To Viking66:  "Presumably Galway Intermediate hurling will be stronger when the Senior grade gets reduced in number. All the same does anyone know if Toreen want to play in the Galway championship at all? And what happens if they win the Galway Intermediate title? What happens to the Connacht Intermediate championship? Who represents Galway?"
Toreen are a fine club ,but (only my thinking) they have players from all over mayo and roscommon ,there are now new clubs rising out of mayo ,entering at junior level 1st (claremorris be one and there flying at underage ,when these clubs get to entering senior ,(which a lot have this year ),players will b going back to there orginal club im sure ....and the otherside of the coin is if toreen enter ,and then ballyhaunis start beating galway intermediate winners ,do they leave aswell ....where does it stop .....getting other teams to a standard of toreen in mayo ,i think would be better

We seem to have an awful record of actually implementing this in Galway though....the fact we've a senior B competition because clubs kicking up a fuss about being called intermediate and how it would ruin hurling in their parish. Didn't Kiltormer ask not to be relegated from intermediate because it would be bad for them? Clubs that should be intermediate or junior being saved by swelled championships, refusals to relegate etc a lot of clubs not there on merit

Maybe Ballyea should join Galway too and maybe Sixmilebridge... be some championship then. Could give them Mullagh & Killimor if they want in exchange...

Any chance we can actually discuss the two games , every year its the same ding dong about Pearse Stadium
1- Surface - comparing it to Gaelic Grounds which has had two games on it since it was relayed is crazy
2- I actually thought there was a grea atmosphere on Sunday
3- Nobody is going to spend millions on Bsloe or Athnery to make them inter county champ grounds but they could do with improvements .

Regarding Tooreen - if they entered the Galway league it would be played when a good few Tooreen lads would be invloved with Mayo , but im sure if they want to they would be welcomed , as far as im aware Four Roads play in the League.

We have enough areas in Galway Hurling that need help then be worrying about Mayo and Roscommon

Killimor are in a better place this weekend then most Galway teams with the break , but playing the games in Athleague every year is crazy , Killimor and Tooreen should be given chance to host in County ground, the same happens in Junior Final played in Bekan . Doesnt happen in any other provinical competition , but the Connacht Council couldnt give a fiddlers.

Im looking forward to the Senior Replay at the weekend ,would love to Loughrea win it , but i think St Thomas will eek out the victory.

Think the week turnaround will benefit loughrea a lot more. Aw well as that, if loughrea can concede less frees and marshall Cooney like they did Sunday (1 pt from play) they're in with a great chance. Loughrea had a wider spread of scores

Absolutely I definitely don't care about Mayo or Roscommon hurling Clubs like they didn't care about us in 1989.
Killimor are going very well and it's great to have them back up Senior hopefully they can win the All Ireland Intermediate.
St.Thomas' will win the 5 in a row Sunday.

Agree, entirely. So you want to keep that ridiculousness going with a club from Mayo?

What happened in 1989? The replay should be a good one. It'll be close whoever wins it.

I think katser is referring to the Tony Keady affair where all the Connacht counties voted against allowing him to play in the AI semifinal - pure bad-mind / jealousy was the route cause of course! Re this weekend's replay I would still give Loughrea a good chance as many of their key players like Ryan, Keary, Mooney and Burns didn't perform all that well in general play and in scoring so if they can all improve a little in those aspects it could make a big difference to the overall result.

Their County Boards put it back to their Club delegates reference the TK affair and yes including Toreen......voted against him (RIP) playing in the All Ireland Semi Final.

Great match so far in the replay of the County Final. St Thomas's by a point at halftime. Hectic pace. Whoever wins will have earned it.
