Hope her cousins are nice, and let her have a sip out of the McCarthy Cup when she goes down to visit them. Otherwise, she'll never get near the thing in her lifetime.

Well she did get to see it 5 years ago which is more recent than every county bar Limerick and Tipp.

You were right about Loughrea. The goals were the difference despite Evan Niland putting on a clinic for Clarenbridge. Clarenbridge didn't do enough in the first half. The County Final should be a good one.

Loughrea 3-13 Clarinbridge 0-16
Looks like Clarinbridge with all their County young stars have only one man able to score....E.Nilland 0-14!
Loughrea v St.Thomas' Final.........oh wait thought people said Loughrea were in the handy group???
East Galway v South Galway Final!!!!!!

Just curious about what part of Loughrea the lads are from
Would they be mostly from outside the town

They may as well have given Thomas' the cup after they won today. That Turloughmore loss woke them up and they are only getting further ahead. Very impressive second half today to destroy Sarsfields. Loughrea won't handle that forward line when you have Eanna and Conor in that form.

She is welcome in Limerick any time - because in Limerick the unsuccessful are still respected.

Should be a cracking final. But im a bit surprised at why there is such surprise at an east versus south final. As i look at the map of Galway , more or less all the senior clubs ( apart from city teams) are east or south. Just like all the football senior teams are north or west. And on a related question are there divisional boards in hurling like there is in football?

North, South and East once you leave Oranmore.
The divide was the Old Galway to Loughrea Road coming out from Oranmore, left of the road North, right of the road South and East once you hit Loughrea.
No more divisional Boards in hurling....back in the day a team had to win their regional Final to get into the Co. Semi Final.....East Galway, South Galway, North Galway and Galway City/West.
It was abolished because the North Galway and Galway City/West winners hadn't much competition in their region unlike East Galway which had like 20 Clubs competing to win their region

lad your hurling knowledge is poor but your geography is even worse. stick to the butchering class of intermediate. My money is firmly on Loughrea to win the Tom Calanan cup in 2 week now. I wish them the best.

He's pretty much been an one man show since the groupstage finished, he was the reason they got this far in the knockout, scoring a lot from play too. The scores really dried up for Mark Kennedy after the group stage, weather probably didn't help. TJ Brenann playing centre forward was such a waste, they've looked very porus at the back without getting as much out of TJ if he was back in the backs. You'd wonder how will Clarinbridge go in the future, Turloughmore we're another team coming and coming and now they look very much a spent force. Now Loughrea look more like a coming team than either of them. Think it's more a case of waiting for father time to finish Thomas's than any team in Galway doing it, everyone looks a long way off in the games that matter....Scary thing is Thomas's aren't even that old for a club team. Even at national club level there seems to be a huge gap between Ballyhale, Ballygunner, Na Piarsaigh, Thomas's and the rest (Slaughtneil tbf probably best of the rest then) Also Loughrea are clearly the second best team in county this year but they were definitely in the easier group, none of the other teams won a game outside the group. The gap between them and the rest in their group was pretty clear.

Thanks for the explanation. Makes perfect sense.
I'm assuming that these boundaries are hurling specific?
Loughrea is far too south to be a dividing line for the full county and the North / South division using the old Loughrea road puts about a 3 to 1 divide between North and South in terms of area , population and number of clubs.
But it it does appear to be a good split of the hurling region,

Before a ball was pucked at weekend St Thomas 10/1 for the club all ireland which i was surprised at. Ballyhale evs, Ballygunner 2/1 Na Piarsigh 4/1 then all the way in 4th Toms 10/1? not disputing them rightly not favorites but so far behind NaP?? they now 7/1 this morning!

Probably a lot of recency bias and TV time is the reason for it. Ballygunner hammering Kulruane and Nap hammering Killmallock, all nationally televised games, helps build up a team when people can see them. Tbh I'd have Ballyhale still as the best team in the country and Nap, Ballygunner, Thomas's in the one band.

I was at the Limerick County Final, as I nearly always am, and I felt that good though NAP played they are not as good as they were in '21 and before. They seem too dependent on P Casey and A Breen for scores and they have a young lad and a veteran in the two Corner Back positions and Enda McEvoy, while a fine Wing Back, is not that commanding at Center Back. I also feel Kilmallock set up all wrong and this may have made NAP look better that they really are.
Of course having said all that I am looking forward to NAP having a decent cut off Ballygunner, colours they have often lowered in the past decade. The best of luck to them in that endevour.

Its Gas I Allways had it in my head
That Loughrea Was in East Galway due to the Old Galway/Dublin Road too
But if you look at google maps now Loughrea is clearly in south Galway
The New Galway Dublin Motorway Splits the County in a more even way
The old Galway /Dublin road actually went south Towards Loughrea
Then it went up Eastwards agiain Towards Ballinasloe

While I agree with you I'd say it's mostly St Thomas's fault as they were fairly lackluster so far up until the Sarsfields match. While they won most of their matches they didn't dominate teams. I think you will see the REAL St Thomas's team in the County Final and beyond. And Ballygunner hammering the Tipp champions was very impressive and shows they are hungry for more.

Yes for hurling purposes because if you go further North of the old Galway-Loughrea Road your in stanch football areas, so North Galway has a massive area but alot of it is primarily football.
Google maps gives a excellent view of East Galway, North Galway, South Galway it clearly shows the town of Loughrea East and all the surrounding Clubs in East Galway.
