Replying To royaldunne:  "Ahh sure if you look it up you can find kangaroos in ballinabrackey. Actually have a look at that vid it's quite funny, as I said it is always talked about when I mention I am from ballinabrackey (to Meath people) that it's one place you can't get to by road without leaving the county. And certainly no main route or used road. The road that you speak of is closed off. Use to be before the shell garage as you enter kinnegad (on the Meath side ) more known for it been the main road to a nightclub in a bog in 70s 80s and early 90s called heathervill. Many people will remember it. Another fact for you is that former Westmeath player Larry Giles lived all his life in Meath side of kinnegad. Rossan to be exact."
Being a former resident of the Rossan Rd, you can still easily get from Ballinabrackey to Clonard without travelling into enemy lines. some of Meaths most hardcore supporters tend to live on that Meath/Westmeath border!!!!!
As far as I remember back in the 2002, Meath played Weatmeath in a league semi, I think there was 3 Westmeath panelists including L.Giles living in Meath (Rossan/Hardwood/Leeger) Good old days (Thank God Meath won)
Royal Dunne mentions Heatherville, I pass it most weekends when I visit my parents, used to work there when I was 16...if walls could talk.
Heatherville held a reception in 1987 or 88 for the Meath team.

Thanks for the update Fonz and keeping RD in check .. Did you know the very 1st Defibrillator was invented in Ballinabrackey. Of Course this is not true,, but does goes with the theme above, of people making up random facts.

Maybe 1994 you are thinking of? Meath v Westmeath in league semi final. Larry was in his prime at that stage. 2002 Westmeath were relegated from Div1.

Jimmy I'm not here to keep anyone in check. But when someone states something as fact, and I had a doubt, I went and checked it out and corrected him. Why is that a problem? I have family in Ballinabrackey and old school mates in Castlejordan and have regularly travelled those roads down the years. Plus before the motorway when accidents occurred on the old N4 I regularly diverted via these roads.

No problem, it was a great Meath team at that time with the likes of Devine, O'Connell, Giles and Geraghty.

RTE occasionally use a map of the counties which shows Ballinabrackey and surrounding area in Kildare, on this map Meath is shown as having no boundary with Offaly. (Example at the start of the video- https://www.rte.ie/news/coronavirus/2020/0831/1162302-coronavirus-ireland/).
I think this is an old map from the 19 century, looking at old maps on Google the area seems to have originally been part of Meath but in the 19 century was transferred to Kildare before being transferred back to Meath.

If you want to see a section of a county completely cut off from the rest, have a look at the "Drummully Polyp". Not only do you have to cross another county to access it, also cross another country. No internal land bridge of any kind

Jody Devine often did well for Meath but I'd say he would be chuffed to be listed in the company of O'Connell, Giles and Geraghty, three of Meath's all time great players.

Those were the 2 that came to mind straight away. Milford and Abbey Sarsfields in the city were very small set ups too and might not be still running

Hahahaha I knew I'd draw ya out. Anyway I definitely think Meath would have beaten Tyrone today. Without a doubt. I mean they played for 15 minutes against Dublin so they have to be team of the year also. And Mayo can surely thank Meath for showing them how to beat Dublin. Btw if ya ever need a stent give us a shout. And one last thing, it's ok to be wrong sometimes Royal, don't get too worked up about it. If you believe that you can't get to Ballinabrackey by road from anywhere in Meath then thats ok don't worry about it good lad.
