Rob Kearney / Cooley

Lots of GAA crossover with rugby in Ireland.
Mick Galway, David Beggy, Rob Kearney, Moss Keane, Gavin Duffy, Ger Brady, Tomas O'Leary, Sweetnam.

Rugby heads should have started targeting GAA players long ago like the AFL do with rugby players and other sports but I think they are too conservative for it. I heard one rugby fan say Tommy Walsh from Kerry wouldn't have made it in rugby as he didn't have the hands!!

Think he went to Clongowes. There's a fair few Leinster lads who aren't from south Dublin but went to well known rugby schools. Heaslip, D'Arcy, the Kearneys, Doris (Mayo but went to Blackrock), Toner etc. Or even Shane Horgan who went to secondary school in Drogheda but you'd never guess from his accent.

I'm a bit puzzled how that rugby fan thought that Tommy Walsh didn't have the hands. He gave an exhibition of fielding in the drawn All Ireland Minor Final v Roscommon in 06.

Rob Kearney played minor football with Louth back in 2004. Good luck to him and Cooley this year.

Did he not play in senior county final that year as well Ollie?

He did indeed Greengrass and he scored a point as well. He played in midfield. Could you imagine him and Keenan lining up for the Wee County in their prime?
