It's been a very good year results-wise so far in both minor and U20 football, across most provinces. We'll have an Offaly vs Roscommon/Down U20 final and a minor final without Kerry, Dublin, Galway, Mayo or Tyrone. Of course I'll always want Galway to win, but I'm delighted to see Sligo get a provincial title. The very best of luck to them in the semi-final. If Sligo or Meath were to get to the final and eitheir win the title outright it would be significant. No leinster team has reached All Ireland minor final in 9 years since 2012 when Meath played Dublin in 2012 All Ireland minor final. And in last 21 years since 2000 only 2 leinster teams have won minor All Ireland title with Laois in 2003 and Dublin in 2012. In last 21 years since 2000 only 3 Connacht teams have won minor All Ireland title with Roscommon in 2006, Galway in 2007 and Mayo in 2014. Super win and performance from Sligo and heartiest congratulations and please God , they go all the way now - they have the capability. No complaints from us Rossies, we had great hopes after beating Mayo and Galway but were blown away by Sligo. This is no flash in the pan as Sligo under age has been very competitive for last 5 years due to the work that is being put in at those grades. Their immediate goal is to displace us as no. 3 in Connacht and that can only be good for Connacht football and make it more competitive than it is.
