Dubs V Mayo

Replying To Saynothing:  "Watching match again on Sky, difference is day and night compared to RTÉ."
The RTE commentary pair were painful to listen to from start to finish. They spent the whole first half talking as if Dublin were playing exhibition stuff and cruising to another easy win when in truth they were just slightly better than a Mayo side who would have been much closer at half-time if they had not missed a few easy point opportunities. They just saw what they wanted to see.

Replying To royaldunne:  "Surely now the inquest into management of Dublin must begin, it appears the wheels came off with the breaking of lockdown rules , the cluxton farce (although comerford is a able replacement) so many walking away , I may be wrong but I can't see Dessie been on the sideline next year."
You're some closet Dub for a Westmeath man!

Well done mayo brilliant stuff, hard luck dublin, Farrell's keep ball tactics cost yee the game hopefully for the good of the game in general they abandon that tactic now

It was indeed fitting that Mayo, who gave Dublin all those titanic battles, should be the ones to end their run. The best of luck to them in the All-Ireland, whoever their opponents may be and whenever it is played.

Wow congrats to Mayo. As a rossie and with the intense rivalry in the west I have no love for Mayo. Normally hate them tbh but for some reason wanted them to win today amd delighted they did. Knocking on the door for years and eventually you have to sit back and respect what they do. Phenomenal team and deserve to win it out now and as much as it goes against my usual feelings I hope they do.
Enjoy tonight lads best team won thankfully

Massive congrats to Mayo. Never say die attitude. Hard luck Dublin but 6 in a row will NEVER be done again. My own view is Dublin actually forgot how to play attacking football with the sideways and backwards nonsense. Dublin Won 6 in a row with attacking football. Hopefully tonight is a wake up call for them to go back to it. If kerry v Mayo goes ahead then it;s a win win occasion as if my beloved Kerry win fantastic but if Mayo beat us i'd be gutted but thrilled for the millions of Mayo fans wordwide as it would be a historic day for them.

Maybe these new Mayo players are the real deal and not as Brolly use to say celebrity losers. Interesting mayo were down 5 when OShea came off and changed the game. Oconner also not missed in open play. Some of the former players in the stand like Vaughan looked like men who regretted retiring fearing mayo might actually do it.

Replying To carlovia:  "Well done to Mayo, what a comeback.

Hard luck Dublin, great champions and good to see so many of them shaking hands at the end."
Isn't that what all teams do after games? Why should Dublin be given credit for doing what is expected of all players?

Replying To arock:  "Fair play to Mayo and Congrats, probably fitting that they should be the ones to finally defeat Dublin. As for Dublin, some of us could see this coming, this day was always going to come, Farrell just speeded the process up."
Writing has very much been on the wall for awhile now.

Too much talent having left the squad and not enough coming through.

There's still a basis of a good side that can challenge for an All-Ireland but it'll need a lot of work imo.

Great stuff..Dublin have been unbelievable champions, I remember watching them lose vs donegal in 2014 as a young man in college...unbelievable to think they would not lose a championship game until tonight..and for that, nothing but admiration..they've had a lot of stick from funding and perceived favouritism from the GAAetc...but they were just an incredible bunch of players who I have no doubt will have a big say in where Sam goes in 2022 and beyond..big congratulations to mayo this evening..this is their night and I hope they savour it too

Heartiest of congratulations to everyone in Mayo. You're an amazing team with outrageous commitment and bouncebackability. Phenomenal how many times you get knocked down and bounce back. I hope you win it now. It's about time that drought ends. Safe home to everyone who made the trip and enjoy your night.

Dublin. In a weird way I've never felt more proud. We were never going to keep on winning forever. The last few years have been an absolute blast and those lads have given us memories we will have forever. There will be alot if flack perhaps and dissection of what went wrong but that's natural after a defeat. Each and every single one of those players can gi home and be immensely proud of themselves and their families and friends will be immensely proud too cause they're a credit to themselves, the city, their community and their club. They have never, and never will, owe us anything. They represent that jersey and put in work and time that they'll never get back and have been richly rewarded. They are our boys and I'm just so proud. Not even disappointed. The journey is over, time to rebuild and go again.

It was amazing to be back in Croke Park there tonight. God I've missed it.

Best of 2 average teams won today. Neither are good enough to win Sam. Kerry forwards will blitz Mayo and the average kerry defence doesn't need to worry about the Mayo forwards either. Only one outcome I'm afraid. Advice to Mayo, drop Aidan o shea.

Replying To supersub15:  "Mayo will most definitely hit the ground running, the Dub's will be forced to show their hand from the off, the Leinster final and the game against Wexford and Meath will show once and for all what gear Dublin were playing in, small stuff but it matters to know these things, absolutely no disrespect to Wexford, Meath or Kildare but it's my thinking that Mayo are at a different level, even without Cillian O' Connor and other key players they have lost over the past 2 / 3 years, I am not for a minute making Mayo favorites against the Dub's absolutely not but they are a different outfit I have said it before if nothing else Mayo are resilient, stubborn, tenacious, and they have character, so you might ask what else do they need to beat the Dub's, - a bit of lady luck that's all.

Dublin is favorites and so be it, but who knows after all it's on the day."
Massive congrats to Mayo and its people in creating their own piece of modern football history, allowing for that fact that lady luck let them down again today.

Replying To Northsidegaels:  "Why is dean rock allowed kick frees 10 yards further in the field from where the free was given? And it was never even a free in the first place either! Dublin constantly getting all these calls"
All teams steal yards when kicking frees from hands including my own club players. Can't stand it .Time the GAA allowed refs use the shaving foam.

Huge credit to Mayo. Apart from Kerry in recent years, they are the only team to consistently challenge Dublin over the last decade. The loss of their main scorer Cillian O'Connor and their top defender Oisin Mullin could easily have undermined them. After being outplayed in the first half and trailing by six points they completely turned the tables by outscoring Dublin by 13 points to four for the remainder of the game. Whatever criticism may be levelled at them - and they have been subjected to all kinds of nonsensical insults over the years - nobody should ever question their bottle or their fighting spirit.
